Hello,
I would like to know if an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 790 would be compatible with a eMachines EL1352 motherboard. I've been searching the internet for the specifications of the motherboard to see what it supports, but I can only find complete and assembled PCs.
Thank you in advance!
Configuration: Windows / Chrome 40.0.2214.94

Hello,
according to the information I found online, the eMachines EL1352 is an entry-level PC from 2010, equipped with an Athlon II X2 215:
https://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00103305.html
with this very weak CPU today, I discourage you from installing a GTX 790, even if it fits in this mini PC and if the power supply is compatible...
I suggest not to go beyond a GTX 750, if your motherboard indeed has a PCI-Express x16 slot
EDIT:
here is a photo of the inside of your PC that I found by searching EL 1352:
http://bbsimg02.kakaku.k-img.com/images/bbs/000/637/637216_m.jpg
is this your PC?
if so, there is indeed a PCI-Express x16 slot (the black slot at the top), but you definitely need a Low Profile GPU (narrow PC)
and be careful about its length, otherwise it will hit the drives on the left...-
Hello,
Thank you very much for your response. My current PC doesn't look like that but it's definitely this motherboard since it's a refurbished one.

Well, your PC is a bit different from the one I found:
CPU:
Athlon II 170u
GPU:
HD 2400 PRO
This CPU is really weak these days, sorry to be blunt.
We often classify CPUs with pre-calibrated tests, called "benchs" in English, and one that's widely used for CPUs is PassMark.
Of course, this doesn't account for all the possibilities of CPUs based on applications, but it gives a pretty good idea.
Look at the PassMark score of your CPU:
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+Athlon+II+170u&id=113
600, while an i3 scores 4800/5000 and an i5 scores 6000/7000...
I'd rather tell you the truth so that you don't invest in a new GPU; it won't be of much use with a weak CPU. Even a GTX 750 will be CPU limited (read the link).
It's much better in your case to invest in an upgrade kit. If you have a standard-sized case and a decent power supply (a good brand and at least 400W), you can find CPU + motherboard + DDR3 RAM kits starting at €150. -
Thank you very much, I understand better the performance of CPUs. I thought we could know the performance by looking at the megahertz and the cores. I didn't know about "PassMark."
Well, let me tell you why I was asking this question.
Actually, for my birthday and Christmas (January 4), I bought a computer that cost a total of €750, but in the end, it still doesn't work. At one point, I was told it was the motherboard, and at another time, I was told it was my processor. I had to send back the motherboard, the problem persisted, and now my i5 is supposed to be sent back to me....
I still wanted to try to get a bit more gaming out of my new graphics card, but oh well, too bad then. ^^
Here is my configuration: https://www.topachat.com/pages/configomatic.php?c=v1kir2T%2BRneDtyVTsUSDzh7x%2BijanoWKEl%2BuJYzrJ5g%3D
Thank you anyway, have a good evening!

Hello,
I mostly think that "eMachines EL1352" is the name of a tower model from Dell. A GTX 790 is relatively "large" in size, so first, do you have a small/medium/large tower? You also need a power supply around 500 WATT, so is yours powerful enough?
