Printer issues/Active Directory directories

Hello,

I have a server running Windows Server 2008 R2. I have about a hundred PCs and thirty printers.

I want to list all the printers in the Active Directory so that each user on each PC, upon their login, can simply search for the model of the printer present in their room and install it on their PC.

All the printers are on the same network.

Thank you for your help

Thank you for your response. Indeed, I've seen this option but I have two problems:

    - When I right-click and select "add printer," I search on the network and find all my printers. The downside is that it doesn't associate the driver with this printer and just seems to pick one at random.

    - My "list in directory" option is grayed out even though I am logged in as an admin.

Most of the time, you need to go into the printer sharing options (where the "List in the directory" option is)

And there is a button "Additional drivers."

If, for example, the printer is originally installed on a 64-bit OS (like your 2008 R2 I suppose), you can click on this button and install the drivers for Win XP (32 bits).

The goal is that when the printer is installed on a PC, the PC automatically selects the correct driver according to the OS and installs it by itself.

It works very well; this is what is used in most companies.

Yes, but you need to have drivers already listed in a path; I don't have them.

Well, you just need to go to the manufacturer's official website and download them. :D

If it’s an HP copier or printer, go to the HP website, download the drivers (often in .zip or .rar), then extract them into a folder.

Then, when "Additional Drivers" asks where the drivers are, point to the folder where you extracted the drivers, and voila, everything works :)

    Hello,

Just check "list in directory" for each printer.
