Good evening,

I would like to know how to format my 1TB hard drive to FAT32 so that it works properly when connected to my TV.

Thank you for your help, Maximims.

Configuration: Mac OS X (10.9.4) / Chrome 37.0.2062.94

Go to a PC, in This PC or Computer, right-click, format, and then in the File System section, choose FAT32.

Under Windows, it won't work; the disk will be limited to 32 GB.

    Hello,

You cannot format your disk in FAT32 under Windows, it will be capped at 32 GB even though the FAT32 standard theoretically allows formatting up to 2 TB

To be able to have your entire disk formatted in FAT32, you need to use another system than Windows. There is a tool that works very well as a Live-CD and operates under Linux, it's called GPARTED (Gnome PARTition EDition)

You can download it from CCM ==> HERE

When I connect my hard drive that has a USB 3.0, my computer does not detect it in "This PC" because it has USB 2.0.

      No solution?

      Thanks anyway :)

      YES and NO!!!

Yes, you can format a hard drive under Windows, but you will never get more than 32 GB; it's a limitation imposed by Microsoft. All software that uses the Windows environment faces the same limitations.

If you want to format 1TB in FAT32, you must necessarily go through another non-Microsoft system.

Fat32Formatter will not overcome this limitation... I remember trying it before, but it couldn't do anything. This software is useless.

With "fat32format", I managed to create two 1 TB partitions (mounted internally)
for a single 2 TB partition, I couldn't do it

Well clearly you haven't understood anything... let me say it again...

      Windows is a Microsoft product
Microsoft prohibits formatting more than 32 Go in FAT32
if software under Windows, software is also limited to 32 Go
      use software not under Windows
      format Hard Drive Fat32
      come back to Windows

      Is that clearer?

Uh... seriously, do you read what we're posting or not??

And if you still don't understand, go read

I have a MacBook Pro and a desktop computer (Windows 7), on CCM I use my computers to ask questions and answer them.

It's a shame... You posted in the wrong forum!

      Good evening,

You can format your disk to FAT using the Disk Utility program in the Applications > Utilities menu on your Mac.

I recommend, given the unnecessary length of this thread, that you ask the question again in the MacOS forum.
