No more internet in my dorm room!

Hello everyone!

I have a university room where internet access (provided by the residence) is done directly via a wall Ethernet socket. For the first two days, internet was working perfectly well, but since then there has been no internet connection. The first message from Windows was “..could not connect to the DNS” and now it says “cannot connect to the internet.”

I looked it up online, and everyone keeps saying to restart the router first, which is impossible since I don’t have access to it, then to update the drivers for my network card, which are up to date. I also tried with another computer, which also cannot connect to the network.

The concierge I went to see told me that some people install routers in their own rooms, causing my problem.

I should clarify that there was only a day and a half when the network was down for the entire residence; now I am the only one without internet. One person who has a router told me that they have no problem with the internet.

What should I do? Should I also install a router or a switch (knowing that I don’t want Wi-Fi)?
I obviously can't find the person/people who installed the router...

Thank you for your help, any constructive response is welcome! :)

So, I think you should reach out to the managers of your student housing because the problem probably isn't coming from your computer...

Hi,
Run an ipconfig and give us the result.

Sorry, it was the only way to give you the ipconfig.

If you want to see the pictures better, can I host them?

UP please!

Disregard the old screenshots (I wasn't connected...).

Hi,
So indeed, your card is connected and connected to your university's network as it has an IP assigned to it.

You should try deleting all your internet settings from your PC, as a change may have been made and your PC hasn't registered it...
That's all I can tell you for now.

Hi,
Thank you for your response!

It's still not working, I also did these commands:
https://support.microsoft.com/fr-fr/help/299357/how-to-reset-tcp-ip-by-using-the-netshell-utility
https://support.microsoft.com/fr-fr/windows/r%C3%A9soudre-les-probl%C3%A8mes-de-connexion-%C3%A0-wi-fi-dans-windows-9424a1f7-6a3b-65a6-4d78-7f07eee84d2c

And the same, it's not working.

However, for the past 2 days, I have had "periods" where I receive internet but then it disconnects after a while.
Strangely, the little yellow triangle appeared in the bottom right while I was on internet pages, those weren't working either but while I was on Skype in a video call, it was still working!
Very strange...

Thank you for your response.
And would a router make any difference?

Typically not. It would take too long to explain, but it seems to me that a router only serves as a "dispatcher" between the RJ45 ports... (in very, very, very broad terms)...

Yeah okay, thank you very much!

Well, I'll check with the administration

Should I mark it as resolved?
