Moving Icons on the Kubuntu Desktop?

Hello :)

I am currently testing Kubuntu 14.04 on VirtualBox.
I have managed to make quite a few adjustments to set up the KDE environment, but I am stuck on a very simple question.
Indeed, I cannot move the icons I placed on the Desktop: the Drag and Drop (left mouse button pressed) does not work.

    I received a reply on another forum from someone who gave me a solution.

    If I understood correctly, on Kubuntu, if you want a desktop where you can move icons by Drag and Drop, you can:
    1) Click on the cashew and then on "Default Desktop"
    2) In the Display tab, change to "Folder View".
    3) Don't forget to add a folder from the "Home" directory to this new desktop.

    You can then add whatever icons you want by Drag and Drop, making sure to choose "Link Here" from the context menu that appears.

    All the icons on this desktop can then be moved by Drag and Drop.

      Hello,

      I was mainly talking about the hassle involved in moving a poor icon.
      Anyway, I'm just speaking for myself, it's only my opinion. ;)

    Hello,

    Right-click in an empty space on the desktop, then in the context menu that opens, scroll down to Icons and check which properties are enabled.

      I have 8 options:
      Execute a command
      Add graphical components...
      Add a dashboard
      Activities...
      Lock graphical components
      Lock the screen
      Exit
      Default Desktop Configuration

      No, I have:
      Display
      Mouse actions

      [EDIT] By right-clicking on an icon on my Desktop, I have (among other things) "Icon configuration".

    By right-clicking > activities > desktop icons, I have two options at the bottom left:
    Desktop
    New activity

    and two options at the bottom right:

    Create an activity...
    Add graphical components

    My graphic components seem to be unlocked since when I right-click on the Desktop, I have among others:
    "Lock graphic components"

    Rhaaaaaaaa, it's a disaster this office ;-((

    Already, I have updates that have been running for an hour, it's grinding after downloading the packages and it just won't end ;-(

    I've looked a bit at the icons and it's alarmingly complex ;-(



    In fact, you need to create a 
    new activity
    from the icon (or the context menu) 
    Activities
    then 
    Create an Activity
    and choose from the dropdown list 
    Desktop Icons
    . From there, you can place your icons wherever you want, however you want, and the context menu I mentioned earlier also appears to freeze/unfreeze the icons.

    However, that's when I didn't quite understand the function ;-\
    You need to click on the 
    Activities
    icon (the 3 little colored balls in the bottom bar) to choose your desired desktop, including the one with the icons, but from there you no longer have access to the other desktops ;-(

      Hi ;)

      I have activity > create an activity > templates > folder view and there I have an awful desktop with lots of icons..:)) but I have no problems moving them.

      Normally with Alt+f2, Activity, Nepomuk, and Akonadi, the use of icons becomes obsolete.
      I admit that understanding the principle and using it is not easy at first.

      I use 
      meta+Q
      (where meta is the Windows key)
      and then I can navigate through my activities (with several virtual desktops, each one), like for example Work, Music, Game...

      You can practically do whatever you want with KDE, it is highly configurable unlike its cousin Gnome, which is becoming more and more stripped of all advanced configurations.
