Hello, my laptop is a HP PAVILION DV7 4171sf, and I'm very happy with it so far, but now it's posing a problem. About a year ago, it started lagging badly when running on battery, so I gave up and put the battery away in a drawer. A few days ago, I bought a new battery thinking the issue was with the old one. I was very happy to see the package in the mailbox this morning, but after testing it, I was quickly disappointed. When it's plugged in without the battery, everything works perfectly, but as soon as I insert the battery, it's a disaster. It starts lagging everywhere, even the internet is sluggish. Does anyone have any ideas, please?

Hello
On battery, it's normal; it's to maximize the charge duration, the processor is limited in frequency.
If you want to change that, you need to go to the "power options" in the control panel, then set it (check) to normal usage.
But you'll lose battery life, that's the trade-off.....

Hello,
I may have the solution for you
Right-click on the battery icon in the taskbar -> power options -> change plan settings (do this for the current plan for now) -> change advanced power settings.
And there you'll see a box with lots of lines and each time two options:
_ when plugged in
_ on battery
So check that settings such as 3D acceleration, processor power management, Wi-Fi, etc., are not restricted when you are on battery.
After that, I invite you to repeat the procedure for the different power plans (power saver, balanced, etc.) if you wish.
