My PS3 is asking for a restore of the system storage files.

Hello,

Can someone tell me why my PS3 says "the file system of the system storage is corrupted and will be restored"? When I click OK, the restoration process starts, and it tells me that once the restoration is complete, the system will restart, but when the restoration is finished, my screen goes black and my PS3 stays on without restarting. When I press the button to turn it off, it doesn't respond. So I leave it on, and after about 8 to 10 minutes, it restarts and asks me to do the restoration again. I've had to do the restoration at least 13 times, and it always does the same thing.
For your information, I have a PS3 Slim.
Thank you for your help.

Hi everyone, I just want to share my experience
So I turn on my PS3, it lags, and then I get that infamous message "corrupted files, proceed to system restore." Why not lol, so I start the procedure and after 2 minutes, another message pops up "an error occurred during the system restore, startup files not found, you need to format the hard drive." WHOA, format, as in erase the hard drive.....so goodbye to my game saves, my music, my movies..
So after trying everything, I still had to format. I tried the recovery with option 3 but it also froze, no result
I tried, as suggested in the forum, to remove the hard drive before the restore, click okay, and put it back in afterward, but nothing worked
I called a computer technician and a video game specialist who has a shop 10 minutes from my place, and he told me that on PS3, game save data is encrypted and therefore non-transferable to another device and then back to the formatted hard drive of my PS3, okay so what needs to be formatted
I formatted my PS3, it starts up, and I can play again. I lost my downloaded games and all my game saves, I'm so disappointed.......but I kept my online trophies, my PSN username and password, and I didn't need to update my console, and I can't quite understand why because by formatting my hard drive, I should have lost my operating system......and my hard drive is still working, so here it is a bit strange all that but by not formatting I couldn't even access my XMB bar and now my console works, but I've lost my game saves....there you go, this might not help but hey it adds another experience to share. Good luck to everyone struggling because of a faulty hard drive or a malfunctioning operating system, see you soon!
