Hello,
we pulled out our old Sony camcorder which still works, after buying a new battery and a brand new blank cassette. When we connect the playback to the TV, there is no sound, and when we record the image it shows "snow" even on a new cassette
do you know a way to get the sound working???
and a better image of the recording that we connect to SP
thanks for your help
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 27.0

Hello and thank you for the response.
The old VHS (K7) used to work in audio and video; we had bought the same one. Here is what is indicated on this one: P5-60 8 8mmVideo MP. Do you think this sound problem is really due to the VHS, or is there a problem with the TV, which is a newer generation? When we bought the camcorder, televisions were different. Is there incompatibility? I don’t understand why there is no sound even though the camcorder has an integrated microphone; we should be able to read and hear it when playing back on the television.
Afterwards, I am not quite "savvy" enough to understand the difference between VHS, V8, HI8, or D8.
Thank you for your help.

On the VCR cassette there should be the inscription "video8"
the others of the same formats but standard differ in the middle of the cassette there is the inscription "HI8" and "digital8"
so if really it is the correct cassette
as for your comment on SP for the Sony brand like Canon SP and LP, SP duration = normal speed, LP = reduced speed (the LP is clearly worse)
to remember the A/V output is at the back you just need to plug a yellow cable on top and another (white or red on the black) and connect everything to the side of your TV
on this one you will need to select A/V 1 or A/V2 or even A/V3
and there you should have the image
don't forget to switch to "play" mode on the TR60
there you go, installing the Sony RFU is no longer useful

Good evening,
yes, on the cassette the video8 label is present, I did connect the camcorder to the TV with the yellow and black cable; I do have the picture on the television but not the sound, which annoys me the most because there are two people on the cassette who have sadly passed away
for the SP or LP option I knew the difference; on the function I had noted that the camcorder worked in SP and I didn’t understand why on recording and thus on playback I had poor quality picture with a snow-like disturbance
I think the device is a bit too old
if you have any idea about the sound problem I thank you in advance
good evening and thank you again
