TV sound issue with home theater Solved

Question

Hello, My setup consists of a Panasonic Viera TX-P50GT30E television and a YAMAHA RX-V675 A/V receiver. I connected the two with an HDMI 1.4 ARC cable from the AV OUT output of the receiver to the HDMI2 socket on the television. I have completed the initial settings from both manuals, yet I cannot get audio to return from the television to the receiver. To be more precise, it sometimes works, but only until I turn off and then turn on the receiver again, and I lose the sound once more. The receiver then displays "Decoder Off." I also tried turning on the TV first and then the receiver, or vice versa, but nothing helps. Finally, I sent the receiver back under warranty to Darty, who replaced the HDMI board, but the issue persists.  Thank you to anyone who might have a solution to help me resolve this issue.  P.S.: Audio playback with other connected devices works perfectly.

Good evening, It seems that I have found the solution to my problem. It lies in Panasonic's Q-Link function. Indeed, when you activate this function, you can set the audio output either to the TV or to the home theater system. Since this morning, I have the sound from my TV on my amplifier, but I will do a few more tests in the coming days and of course I will keep you updated. Good evening,  Do you have an HDMI ARC on the TV? If not, the sound from the amplifier cannot pass through HDMI; you will then need to opt for the optical connection.

Good evening,  I do think it would indeed be simpler to use an optical cable, connect it to the “AV4” input of the amplifier, and select that for the audio; the problem will be resolved very quickly and it’s just one more cable in the setup, it won’t take up any more space. Good evening to Thieff and Stargate43 and thank you for your responses,  Yes, the HDMI2 output of my television is labeled ARC and is configured in the TV menu. As for using an optical cable, I have considered this workaround, of course, but aside from the fact that it is not the intended operation for a recent setup, the output on the Panasonic television requires an optical audio adapter that I do not have anymore. What bothers me the most is that this malfunction is erratic; it can work perfectly one day when the setup is turned on and not work the next day following the same procedure. As for determining whether the fault lies with the TV or the AV receiver, it is difficult to ascertain.  Thank you again for your help.

Hello,  It's true that this TV model only works WITH adapters here and there, which is quite inconvenient when one misplaces one or the other ;-)  And the list is long, pfff ;-)    As for the fact that it works perfectly one day and not the next, I'm unable to answer that dysfunction ;-)  Have you tried an analog connection (RCA)? Your TV also has this type of sound output, once again through an adapter, but it doesn't have to be the one provided with the TV; a simple MALE STEREO JACK 3.5 - MALE RCA cable would work just fine.  The test would just be to check if this phenomenon also occurs in analog mode, to be able to rule out a general anomaly either with the TV or the amplifier. Hello Stargate43,   I had already plugged a cable into the TV's headphone output and into audio 2 on the amplifier.  Indeed, it works in analog. But this raises doubts only about the TV's headphone output and the audio 2 circuits of the amplifier.  In fact, in digital, it's as if the amplifier is not receiving the signal. The display shows "decoder off," and no speaker indicator lights up, which also happens when I'm on Blu-ray, for example, and the player is off.   Most importantly, I would like to know if anyone else is experiencing the same issues with similar equipment. It's quite surprising that with a recent TV costing €1000 and an amplifier still under warranty for €500, I can't enjoy the sound from the TNT HD TV channels in digital on the amplifier.
