Hello,
For a few weeks, I have been unable to charge the original LP-E10 battery of my Canon EOS 1100D: when I place it in the charger, the charging indicator (orange) starts blinking after a few minutes.
My question is simple: does this mean that my battery is dead?
--
Best regards.

A battery has a limited lifespan. After a few years, it no longer holds its charge. You can buy an original Canon battery, or an equivalent one on Ebay, which is much cheaper.
I have a RX100 and I bought a second battery on Ebay. The original costs 40 euros, the one on Ebay costs 10 euros. It works just as well as the original.
But some prefer a battery from the brand of their camera, it's up to you to decide.

Hello,
This message is for those who might be experiencing this kind of problem:
When opening the battery, I noticed that it had been damaged and that the contacts were unsoldered. There was still some charge left, but unless you are familiar with precision electronics soldering, there’s nothing else to do but buy a new battery.

Sincerely.
Happy New Year 2014!!
