USB headset with jack connector?

Hello,

I just bought a 7.1 USB headset (Razer Kraken 7.1) to use on my computer and console. But I'd like to know how to connect a USB audio headset to a 3.5mm jack?

Is it enough to buy a USB Female / Male Jack adapter like this one: http://www.priceminister.com/offer?action=desc&aid=649291772&productid=188298290 ?

If not, what are the options to make such a setup work, please?

P.S.: I'm not necessarily looking for the sound to remain HD on the headset when connected to a jack, but simply to hear sound through it ^^

Hello,

No, it won't work. A USB port delivers a digital signal, whatever it is (mouse, keyboard, USB stick...). A jack port delivers an analog audio signal.

The accessory you found on PriceMinister is a scam; it cannot work in any case. Your headset has a USB port, so digital, which means you have no other choice but to plug it into a USB port. On your computer, no problem, but for your console, I really don't think it's possible. The USB port is not a professional digital output format. Still, give me the reference of your console, but I doubt it will work.

I own a Playstation 3 model 80 Giga, which has several USB ports, but it seems that the USB ports on the console only work for audio regarding the console's voice sounds (during a voice conversation with a headset).

Anyway, while I'm at it, I have a Samsung B2230HD monitor; the television has a USB port, but it's only for USB sticks and hard drives, so I'm not sure about using it for audio headsets :/

Otherwise, you say that the thing sold on the site is a scam, yet quite a few people have positive feedback about it, so I don't understand what it could be useful for :/

The notes you see are about the seller. He sells other accessories. If you look at the comments below, you'll see that this product is of no use; the seller from PriceMinister is actually honest and says it himself: "the type of data is radically different between a USB plug and a Jack plug."

What you need to understand is that the jack and USB formats are completely incompatible. The signal from your headset via the USB port must be digital, and nothing else. The signal from a jack cable must be analog, and nothing else.
To interconnect these two formats, you need an Analog-to-Digital converter.

To visualize this a bit, it’s like trying to connect a square pipe that can only carry cold water with a round pipe that can only carry hot water. In our case, the square pipe is the jack, and the cold water is an analog signal. The round pipe is the USB cable, and the hot water is the digital signal. Even with an adapter that manages to connect the square pipe to the round pipe, there remains the problem of the water temperature! You need to insert a module that will heat the water, which is the analog-to-digital converter. You can't do without it.

That's why these cables you find on random websites are simply pure and simple scams; they cannot work.

To be able to play on PC, chat via PS3, and I thought there was a solution to use it to get sound from the TV, according to what I find on the internet (and I don't know if it's accurate) it remains quite affordable between 30 and 40€ ^^

The Digital Out connection is a digital output (S/PDIF format), which works with USB. However, I know that there are USB to S/PDIF adapters (USB in, S/PDIF out), but I believe the reverse does not exist...

While browsing through the console settings, I found the Audio Output Settings.

They ask me to choose between the TV connector or the AV amplifier (Receiver).

And I have the choice between:

HDMI
Digital Optical
Audio Input Connector / SCART / AV Multi

I'm wondering if there's something I can do with all of this.. I found a lot of HDMI/female USB adapters and I'm wondering if that would work?

It can't work, at least not with the solutions available on the market; however, if you have a lot of time to dedicate to it, you can always try DIY, but it's going to be very time-consuming and you need a good level in programming and electronics.
