Hello,

I just started up and restarted my PC and I came across this message ...
The virus definition update did not happen (which is normal...)
I updated the engine a little while ago (less than a week)
There's no way to reactivate this service for the time being.
I haven't installed anything since yesterday, my activities have been limited to the Internet (mostly on "reputable" sites rated by WOT and Avast)
Also, I don’t have much time to dedicate to this issue right now because I have work (to catch up...)

Thank you for your suggestions.

P.S.
I will only check the responses occasionally because I'm temporarily disconnecting my connection...

Hi,

Try updating it?

https://www.avast.com/download-update

And if that doesn't work, go to the control panel and Install/Uninstall programs, and click to uninstall it, but you will see the option to repair and/or reinstall...

Do that and restart your PC.

Resolved (for now...)
For your information:
Adwcleaner: Nothing
Malwarebytes: Nothing
ESET online: Three viruses detected and removed
Forced restart
Avast is working again but:

My personal opinion is that I am far from being a computer specialist, however, real specialists are starting to have questions regarding Avast.
I wonder if I should change antivirus...

Good evening spiralio,

I have the same setup as you, XP Pro SP3 and Firefox 25.0, Avast program version 2014.9.0.2006, and virus database version VPS 131102-1, and everything is running smoothly.

In principle, you should have the same as me, can you confirm that for me please?

Good evening,
Yes, I have exactly that. I had forgotten it's also XP pro.

Good evening,
Avast is one of the best antivirus programs (even the free one), but no antivirus will protect you from a malware or a trojan or anything else; just look at the number of topics on virus/security!
It is possible that when there was "the engine update (?) it would have been necessary to completely uninstall Avast with the software made for that, HERE and then download it again, very simply! HERE
if that helps...

Thank you very much,
That's what I will do next time.
It would bother me a bit to "separate" from Avast, I've gotten used to it!
