Hello,
When turning off the computer, a message appears! : "The drive is not ready for use. Its tray may be open. Check that the drive A: has a disk in it and that its tray is closed"
Note: On this PC I have a floppy drive!
Also, a "My Computer" icon keeps reappearing in "All Programs" in the "Start menu"

Good evening!
Sometimes, at startup or shutdown of XP or Vista, an error message appears: "The drive is not ready for use. Its tray may be open. Check the drive and make sure it contains a disk and that the tray is closed," with the options to click Cancel, Retry, and Continue. Whatever operation you perform, a new message appears: "There is no disk in the drive. Insert a disk into the drive." The same options and the same result, these messages keep recurring!
Today computers are sold without floppy disk drives, yet that is where the problem lies... The solution is hidden in the BIOS. Enter it by pressing the appropriate key at startup (often DEL or F2, but it all depends on your machine) and look for the floppy drive or Floppy Disk; select the option and disable this device (Disabled). The drive is usually found under the General or Standard CMOS Features tab, but again it depends on your BIOS... Save the change and the computer restarts with the problem resolved :-)
in the BIOS setup you should have this https://www.rohos.com/img/shots/bios_boot_device.gif ( floppy )

Thank you Jorginho... I reviewed the BIOS setting at startup with the driver configuration, I made the changes to the setting and my issue (Device not ready. The drive might be off-line. Check the drive and make sure it contains a disk and that the drive door is closed) is finally resolved... that message no longer appears... big thanks

Good evening
There’s an easier way without going through the BIOS:
Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Floppy drives, select the drive that appears and disable and/or uninstall it. See you later. -
Hello,
Just to testify to the urgency of the problem: there are now two of us claiming it.
Personally, I ran scans with several different antivirus programs (Nod32, Avast and Bitdefender): it doesn't change anything the sentence “The drive is not ready to be used. Its tray may be open. Check Drive A: and ensure it contains a disk and that its tray is closed” keeps appearing when I shut down my PC.
And I noticed that by copying/pasting my videos onto a friend's PC (via the local network) I managed to pass the same fault to him.
Hoping for a reliable response...
Thank you for paying attention to it.
