Hello, I have a problem with displaying my .pdf files in Windows Explorer. Let me explain: I work a lot with the "thumbnails" view, which allows me to have an overview of all my .pdf files without having to open them. However, I have two machines that are 100% identical, with the same configuration, and the folder display options are the same, but on one of them the thumbnails do not display, and I only see the Adobe logo.... Could someone please help me because it's driving me crazy... Thanks in advance Sniper13

In Acrobat Reader, go to the Help menu and select "Repair Installation".
It takes some time, but afterward, all the thumbnails are up to date.

I had the problem... in the end it turned out that I have a 64-bit system and I found that out and since then everything's been great ;)

I have the same issue since I updated Adobe Reader to the new Adobe Reader DC. I'm on Windows 8.1. I've tried the various methods given: repairing, the fix, changing registry keys, but nothing works :s

Hello,

I had the same issue (on Win 8.1 64-bit, then on Win 10). The fix works very well for displaying PDF icons in browsers, but the problem persists for displaying PDF icons on the desktop. Any ideas for fixes?

I had the same problem on one PC and I just upgraded my reader from 6 to Adobe Reader 7 and there, miracle, the thumbnails are displaying... I don’t understand why, because I have another PC where Reader 7 is installed and the thumbnails are not displaying...

In fact, the viewer only displays solid lines.

Example:
9 pages:
ok in 1 column
missing 9 in 2 columns (2x8 +1)
ok in 3 columns (3x3)
etc...

I had the same issue, but the solution is much simpler. Ccleaner (system cleaning tool) must have removed the temporary files (hidden files) used for thumbnail display. After cleaning the temporary files (including the thumbnail cache files), all my thumbnails were reset!

I have the same problem with the thumbnails not showing.
I still have the very latest version of Adobe Reader (XI)!
The solution suggesting to change the display mode in "open" doesn't work.
I haven't done any cleaning with CCleaner since I installed it.

the solution is very simple, you just need to go to the "file options" and uncheck the option: "always show icons, never thumbnails."
