CamStudio audio/sound issue?!!! Solved

Question

Hello everyone!!

I want to record videos from the internet. I am using the CamStudio software. When I start recording, everything goes very well until I preview the video; the video copy is good, there is no problem on that side, but there is no sound. I went to (Audio Options for Speakers, I clicked on Automatic Search and I received this message: "WaveoutGetSelectControl() failed." And the second message says: "CamStudio is unable to detect the line on your system for recording sound from your speakers. You can try the manual configuration in audio options.") I tried the manual option, same result: "no sound."

PS: These are tutorial videos that are very important for my job as a Graphic Designer. If there is a solution, please help me as soon as possible!!

I found this that helped me:

If you have a problem with the sound, make sure that Record Audio from speakers is selected in the Options menu.

If it still doesn't work, manually select the recording source through the Windows mixer (small speaker icon at the bottom right next to the clock, double click then Options, Properties, Recording: make sure that stereo mixer (or what you hear, depending on the sound card models) is checked in the list, then OK and ensure that this source is selected in the mixer, and that its volume as well as the overall volume are not set to zero. Then go back to the playback properties and make sure that the wave track is also not set to zero.

I solved the problem by downloading the CamStudio Lossless Codec v1.0 from www.camstudio.org. Image is great, sound is excellent. However, the compression is not that good. In this case, you need to reprocess the AVI file with a utility like SUPER © and recompress it. That’s what I just did, and the original file of 298 MB turned into a 12 MB file using the Divx codec!

It’s worth mentioning that CamStudio version 2.1 is paid. There are even several versions ranging from $9 to $50, and the Flash converter that was there is gone. The true version (2.0) is on www.camstudio.org and remains free!

Hello everyone!
Personally, I wanted to record the sound coming from my computer and I found a little solution without bugs...
So for me it's simple, Camstudio records the sound coming from my speakers, but in this case it gives me very poor quality....
Otherwise, it can record the microphone --> and I use that, basically I have a regular cable with two male plugs, so I put one end in the headphone jack and the other in the microphone jack, as if the computer is listening to what it says ^^
And it works well for me anyway, I have good quality sound
Disadvantages: you can't hear the sound that's playing (but I recommend turning it down to halfway)
Finally, personally, for making small videos, I use Camstudio and Windows Movie Maker or Videospin

right-click on the volume icon

>recording devices

>on the recording tab right-click in the bottom of the field

>there's a contextual menu!!

>now ...show disabled devices

>right-click on the new stereo mix and set as default device

by the way, for Vista you need the camstudio codec14.exe

for those using VISTA

WELL, MANUCYAN found something that works and I believe it was pretty strong but
it's WINDOWS' fault!!!!

THE SOLUTION:
(I found it on my daughter's computer who uses Vista - but I don't have the computer in front of me, so... I'm doing it from memory :o) and I'm old)
right-click on the sound icon
select sound devices?
choose the 2nd tab "Recording..."
you will only see 2 options - "micro" & "line in" and that's the problem....
move the mouse in the same box where the 2 options are and right-click on NOTHING :o)
in the context menu select "show hidden options"
there you go now select "stereo mix" as default
and even if Camstudio still doesn't find the "line" with the manual button, it will work.
I have XP and Camstudio doesn’t work at all :o( we are just a handful of people in the world with this problem still without a solution :o( so I downloaded another one here
