[Ps2] My console can't read my games. Solved/Closed

Question

Hello, I found an old PS2 that was lying around in my attic and I tried to get it to work. When I start a game, the console doesn't launch it, and when I go to "browser," it says "reading disk..." for several minutes and then "Error reading Disk." I have dismantled and cleaned my PS2 several times... nothing is improving. I don't know the references for my PS2, I only know that it was bought a few days after its release. Good evening, once disassembled, you remove the cover above the lens. You have access to a small knob (white) which you turn notch by notch and test as you go. In one direction it prioritizes DVD reading, and in the other it favors games.

I have a similar problem... indeed, the console reads some games (tenkaichi 3 / spiderman 3) for example, but it no longer reads DVDs, and the new game (brand new) that I just bought (god of war 2) doesn’t work, when I go on the browser I also receive "error reading the disc". Is there anyone knowledgeable here?

Ps: I encountered the same problem with grand tourismo 3.

Very easy, you just have to disassemble it.

1. You will see (normally) where the lens is, just at the top there is a white plastic screw consisting of 6 sides.
2. You had the same problem as me. To fix it, you just need to tighten or loosen the screw so that the plate holding the lens rises so that the laser reads the CDs.
3. Actually, I'll explain the problem with your console (the problem with your console is that the plate holding the lens is slightly or totally lowered, that's why it was not reading the CDs. So, you just need to raise it by tightening the screw and everything will work smoothly.

Also, remember which notch the wheel was in, otherwise you won't even know if you'll be able to play the games or not at all.   My PS2 has been sitting in my cellar gathering dust since the day it was released; it couldn't read the games anymore, I put a CD like this inside, and afterward it worked perfectly.
