Hello,
I have an Epson XP 202 printer that I had connected via WIFI to my BBOX.
I recently changed my internet service provider, and my new box (Virginbox) does not have a pairing button...
I managed to connect the printer via USB to the box, but not via wifi.
Can anyone help me with a WIFI connection?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

BOXes that do not have a pairing button are rare. Mine is a neufBOX and even though it’s from 2008, it has one. That's saying something!!!

So, if your BOX doesn't have a pairing button (also known as WiFi pairing, or the WPS button – WiFi Protected Setup), it means that this button is not physically on the BOX, but is in its control interface.

With a web browser (while connected to the BOX in question), you just need to type in the address of this interface. For your BOX, I have no idea, but for mine it's 192.168.1.1. (SEE BOX DOCUMENTATION)

And I bet there's a chapter on WiFi and connecting printers and devices via WiFi (how could it be otherwise, given the importance of WiFi????) in your VirginBOX documentation.

If that's not the case, quickly switch providers!!!! And choose a serious one.

Best regards to those following my numerous posts on WiFi, printers, and refillable cartridges.... And shame on the little poser wannabes, pumped up by planned obsolescence like in PEPS!!!

Hello, and thank you for your comment,
But, because there is a but, I previously checked with a Virgin "technician" who confirmed to me that there is no WPS button on this box (a new box is expected soon).
I can indeed connect to my box via the IP address 192.168.1.1, and I have access to a WIFI section, but my knowledge doesn't allow me to fully grasp the thing...
This section allows me to enable or disable the wifi, enable or disable the SSID broadcast (a mystery to me), choose the channel, select the radio mode (auto, 11b, 54g).
Another tab allows me to select the system (disabled, WEP, WPA, WPA2), the key type (TKIP, AES), and to modify the key (password).
I turn to you again...
Thank you in advance.

Hi,

In the "WIFI" menu of my SFR box, in the "Security" tab, here’s the screenshot of what I have
http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q738/puces2nimes/forum_wifi_protected_setup_zps94a68989.png

You probably have the same page somewhere....

Otherwise, the online documentation made by EPSON is completely opaque, concerns many VERY different models, and is therefore not really usable...

However, in this document: ftp://download.epson-europe.com/pub/download/3739/epson373975eu.pdf I read this: .... check that the WI-FI is activated on the computer... follow the on-screen instructions of the computer....

It is therefore possible that the computer (which is on the Wi-FI network and therefore knows the SSID and the password) communicates this information to the printer without going through the BOX and allows it to connect. At this moment, it is the WPS server (? to verify)

Have you tried that, having the computer on WIFI?

For certain brands like CANON and BROTHER, to perform the WIFI setup, you must first go through the USB cable (unbelievable, right?).

Another important point: the "WIFI" button on the XP-202 must be pressed for three seconds and released for the WPS pairing to start. A detail I had forgotten to mention....

That should help move things forward.

Best regards.

Thank you again for the new information...
But I do have a page almost similar to the one you sent me, except for the bottom part, starting from Wifi Protected setup.
Otherwise, for the installation, I did try with the computer on wifi...but nothing! The "scanning" done by the printer doesn’t work...and the orange light (wifi) is blinking.
If you have any other suggestions, I’m all ears.

Thanks again

The computer is connected to the BOX via WIFI (not ETHERNET), of course. Remove the cable to be sure.

You need to use the driver installation CD-ROM. During installation, select the WIFI option and follow the instructions on the computer screen. According to EPSON, it should work.

Best regards.

By clicking on the blue words, you will access the explanation pages...just in case.

I went there: http://assistance-adsl.virginmobile.fr/questions/123591-comment-installer-votre-box-et-la-raccorder-a-vos-equipements

The VirginBOX looks a lot like the old neufBOX I have. Including the button at the bottom of the page, the "padlock" button (next to the extension port at the back) is exactly the same on the neufBOX. And on the neufBOX, that's the WPS pairing button. When pressed, the WIFI diode on the BOX blinks, indicating that the BOX is searching for compatible WPS equipment trying to connect.

It might be the same on the VirginBOX, given the resemblance???

If that's the case, you need to press this button on the BOX and, at the same time, press the "WIFI" button on the XP-202 for three seconds.

Best regards.
