SMS after posting an ad on Le Bon Coin

With your email, they can send you false alerts, supposed friend requests, etc.
It's the gateway for them.
So above all, do not respond to Gmail or Hotmail (untraceable on the network) or ask for a fixed address and phone number, otherwise, just give up right away.

Three ads posted in the late afternoon (6:30 PM) on Le Bon Coin and around 8 PM I received a text message saying they wanted to buy the shoes and to contact them at a Gmail address.
What seemed strange to me is that I hadn't received confirmation from Le Bon Coin?

I replied to the text asking which pair since I had listed several.
Five minutes later, I received a call on my mobile from a private number, a man with an accent speaking poor French said he was "interested in women's shoes because he cross-dresses in Bois de Boulogne!"
I hung up and then received three more texts asking me to write by email or text which I did not do!

I am a bit worried because the first time I replied to the text?

me too, the first time I replied to the SMS by SMS (and not by email as my interlocutor requested...) I didn't receive any follow-up or intrusion on my phone or anything else... I think these attempts only become dangerous if you reply by email or if you accept, for example, a payment by transfer by providing your bank details.

If you were contacted even before the validation of your ad, that supports my theory of an intra-site hacking which would require LeBonCoin to implement some security measures.

As for me, I now ignore all SMS or Gmail emails that seem suspicious.

I also received 2 texts asking me to reply by email; a bit naïve, I responded to one to see. The person told me they wanted to settle via PayPal, and since I don't have an account and don't want one, I refused, offering cash on delivery instead. They replied that they could send me a check and asked for my details: name, address, phone... This raised my alarm, so I asked for their phone number to contact them without giving my personal details. I called, and I ended up on an SFR voicemail. While deleting another ad that had been sold (to a real person this time), I saw that you could check the traffic on the ad, and there, no one had clicked on the ad that had drawn the two texts.
I therefore conclude that these were scams, and I forwarded the 2 texts to 33700.

Hello everyone, I would like to clarify that if you don't want to get scammed, there are always reliable payment services available on sites like Le Bon Coin, eBay, etc. The person who wants to buy an item you have for sale just needs to use one of these services that holds the money; at least you'll be sure that your item will be paid for. As long as the item isn’t received, the money cannot be released (the same goes if you are the buyer). The risks arise when, during the course of the scam, they obtain copies of official documents... at that point, identity theft is almost guaranteed, and filing a report is necessary.
