Hello,

Be careful, SMS sent in response to ads posted on Le Bon Coin and asking for a reply via email also come from numbers starting with 06.
And it gets more complicated than strange numbers (0022 or others).
For example, I have the *** who sent me 2 SMS asking me to contact him at two different email addresses. The style is a bit different but each time it’s "Hello, is the ad still current? If so, please contact me at 06......".

Against this kind of scams on Leboncoin, which I have already experienced, I suggest you immediately forward the SMS to 33700 (the government's free service for reporting this type of scam). It works pretty well, I have never received dubious or abusive SMS again after that. You follow the procedure and it’s sorted in 10 seconds.
However, what to absolutely NOT do: reply to the number that sent you the message! Unless you want to trash your phone!

Ps: @marmenard: it is illegal to register someone else's email address for services, even if it's in retaliation and feels good :-)

Why look further, dubious SMS, move along. It's as simple as that, there's no point in trying to convince oneself of anything. If someone is interested, they'll move their ass or they'll call you.

I'm fed up with this trivialization of naivety on the internet (I'm saying this for everyone in general).

I am forwarding these texts to 33700 to report them. If this service is competent, they should block the numbers if there are many. It won't stop these scammers, but it will slow them down a bit.

  With your email, they can send you false alerts, supposed friend requests, etc.
  It's the gateway for them.
  So above all, do not respond to Gmail or Hotmail (untraceable on the network) or ask for a fixed address and phone number, otherwise, just give up right away.

A listing validated today on Le Bon Coin and immediately an avalanche of SMS from different mobile numbers + 1 from 10135
The following numbers all offering exclusive contact via email and providing a Gmail address, the only domain I know of that remains untraceable

A little advice for your listings on LEBONCOIN:
Create a profile and manage your listings from your dashboard. This gives you the ability to see if your listing has been read and if there have been clicks to view your phone number. In my case, no phone clicks on my 2 listings so the retrieval of my number was not done from my listing..... which suggests that the site is probably infiltrated by hackers...

Le Bon Coin doesn't seem to be worried about the increase in these phishing attempts via SMS. For my part, over the last 2 months and 5 new listings, I've had this type of contact via SMS as soon as my listing was posted, which seemed all the more suspicious.

  Three ads posted in the late afternoon (6:30 PM) on Le Bon Coin and around 8 PM I received a text message saying they wanted to buy the shoes and to contact them at a Gmail address.
  What seemed strange to me is that I hadn't received confirmation from Le Bon Coin?
  
  I replied to the text asking which pair since I had listed several.
  Five minutes later, I received a call on my mobile from a private number, a man with an accent speaking poor French said he was "interested in women's shoes because he cross-dresses in Bois de Boulogne!"
  I hung up and then received three more texts asking me to write by email or text which I did not do!
  
  I am a bit worried because the first time I replied to the text?

  me too, the first time I replied to the SMS by SMS (and not by email as my interlocutor requested...) I didn't receive any follow-up or intrusion on my phone or anything else... I think these attempts only become dangerous if you reply by email or if you accept, for example, a payment by transfer by providing your bank details.
  
  If you were contacted even before the validation of your ad, that supports my theory of an intra-site hacking which would require LeBonCoin to implement some security measures.
  
  As for me, I now ignore all SMS or Gmail emails that seem suspicious.

  I also received 2 texts asking me to reply by email; a bit naïve, I responded to one to see. The person told me they wanted to settle via PayPal, and since I don't have an account and don't want one, I refused, offering cash on delivery instead. They replied that they could send me a check and asked for my details: name, address, phone... This raised my alarm, so I asked for their phone number to contact them without giving my personal details. I called, and I ended up on an SFR voicemail. While deleting another ad that had been sold (to a real person this time), I saw that you could check the traffic on the ad, and there, no one had clicked on the ad that had drawn the two texts.
  I therefore conclude that these were scams, and I forwarded the 2 texts to 33700.

This thing is so weird; someone did the same to me. There's even one who asked me to create a PayPal account to make the transfer directly before coming to see the listed items, and they say, "I will send a carrier to pick up the package."

I was subjected to another style, after receiving 3 text messages asking me to respond via email..
This time it wasn't by email, but they offered a postal mandate for reservation, asking for my email, address, and first and last names..
Blocked instantly! I imagine that those who get caught end up being asked for their account number...
Disgraceful in any case. And all from 07 56 or 07 63...

Exactly the same thing for me! No sooner had I posted an ad on Leboncoin last night than I was already inundated with emails from people (always women - those scammers are right, a woman inspires more trust!...) telling me they were interested in my item, that they were even willing to pay 150 euros more for me to reserve it for them, asking on top of that for my first name, last name, address, phone number, and the fixed price of the item sold (even though the price was already in the ad - They can't read, I swear!!...) and telling me they would pay me by certified bank check.
In short, ALWAYS THE SAME STYLE OF EMAIL, generally full of spelling mistakes and sometimes very abrupt, without even a polite greeting.
I've outgrown believing in Santa Claus and I wanted to warn you by sharing my testimony.

DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS TYPE OF REQUEST.

  Hello everyone, I would like to clarify that if you don't want to get scammed, there are always reliable payment services available on sites like Le Bon Coin, eBay, etc. The person who wants to buy an item you have for sale just needs to use one of these services that holds the money; at least you'll be sure that your item will be paid for. As long as the item isn’t received, the money cannot be released (the same goes if you are the buyer). I always refer these scammers (via text) to these secure online payment platforms, and strangely, I never hear from them again. Best regards, Tom.

I sent a copy of the email to Le Bon Coin's fraud service...

Classic scam setup on Le Bon Coin..

The numbers starting with 0022x redirect to Africa.. The most common numbers on B.C start with:

00229 yyyy = Benin
00225 yyyy = Ivory Coast
00233 yyyy = Ghana
00237 yyyy = Cameroon
00223 yyyy = Mali
.....

The associated 06 numbers are 'exported' mobiles but with a 'France' # to reassure the victims.

Too polite to be honest, toss them in the trash.. Same if the guy tells his fake life.. A certain number of favorite phrases (Copy-paste..) that characterize scammers are recognizable at first glance..

I posted an ad and indeed I receive messages on my mobile telling me to contact an email address
I did so taking the precaution of creating a fake address
Fortunately because the person asked me for my card number to transfer the requested amount by CFA
After eliminating this email, I ran a virus scan and of course there was spyware
Whereas before I opened my mailbox the scan was negative
So be cautious
Respond only by phone

Same here, I put a couch up for sale and just a few minutes after the listing went live on Leboncoin, I received texts asking if the couch was still available! My ad had just been published. You have to be cautious, it smells like a scam! I replied to one of the texts, and a certain Nancy responded that she was 400 km away from my department, that she would be in my area for work over the weekend, but was interested in my couch and was willing to send me 50 euros in advance to hold it, and I needed to give her my details for the 50-euro transfer, come on! Wow! More outrageous than Roquefort!

I had a similar experience to yours, a number that asks me if my item is still available and asks me to respond only by email. I initially replied by text, naively, then by email. And then, TOTAL SCAM SO BE CAREFUL! The person in question asked me to go through DHL because she doesn't have time to move around and Blablabla, I told her why not, I looked into it a bit and saw that it was an air transport company. I told her I was okay if she explained the steps to follow or I suggested that we use Vinted so I could send the package directly to her or to the nearest pickup point. She didn’t respond to that last message but I received an email from DHL saying that the transaction from the lady (worth €300 while I was selling my item for €110!!) was validated and that I had to go to a tobacco shop to pay €150 in delivery fees to the DHL agency within the day!! BE CAREFUL OF THIS SCAM!!! I really fell into the trap
I said that I refused to pay while I was selling an item, and I was told to make an effort and that I would be reimbursed within the day, and that I also needed to make the effort to be present at home to welcome the delivery person!! Anyway, I didn’t hear back that day and I received emails from this woman, only saying “Hello ******” (with my first name)????????

The problem is that when she asked me for my details with a mountain of questions: Name, First Name, Address, Price, Firm, I answered, thinking that a delivery person would actually come for the exchange of my item for this lady's envelope.   As long as it is "only" information that could be found in a directory, there are no particular risks other than follow-ups from the scammer... The risks arise when, during the course of the scam, they obtain copies of official documents... at that point, identity theft is almost guaranteed, and filing a report is necessary.

    In this last case, it's hard to say.... although it's likely... The ads attract more scammers than real customers...
    
    On these sales sites, one should prioritize proximity, with the ad serving only to arrange a meeting with the person (while also taking some precautions, no isolated places, possibly being accompanied, no payment by check...) and avoid distance selling, as the scams are ever-present....
    
    These people are mostly scammers operating from West Africa using identities they previously stole during other scams.........

I naively believed him and gave him my contact details, including my email, phone number, address (plus my apartment number so the courier could contact me via intercom), and finally my name. Fortunately, I stopped all transactions after he asked me for a €100 insurance since I found that suspicious, and just to confirm, I even called DPD's customer service, and they confirmed it was a scam. I stopped everything, but the only issue is that I'm worried; he has my details, and even though according to my research, these scammers are generally based in Ivory Coast and usually do nothing, I'm still stressed. Hello, I'm receiving lots of messages from French numbers and others. It's as if I had a message to a seller on LBC saying that I paid for the item, and people are calling me saying they don't know what I'm talking about, that they are selling boots or something else. That's when I realized it was a scam; they send messages to people at random. So, I delete the messages each time, but I can receive more than 100 messages in less than 10 minutes. What should I do?
