Hello!

I built my computer a few months ago with Windows 7. Everything was working fine until this afternoon, but suddenly my audio device isn't recognizing anything and I can't listen to anything anymore. I've tried installing different drivers and reinstalling the one provided with the motherboard CD, but nothing works and I really don’t know what more I can do. My sound card is recognized in the BIOS, so it must be a driver issue.

If anyone has an idea of what my problem could be, I would appreciate some clarification; it would really annoy me to have to reinstall Windows without being sure of the outcome...
I can provide the components in detail if it's clearer.

Thank you for your response.

I installed it, but it doesn't change anything. I think I already tried this driver; the problem must be coming from somewhere else.

    Go to Start
    In the search bar
    Type: devmgmt.msc and OK.

See if there are any question marks and which ones?
If so, right-click on the device
    Properties
    Details tab
    Give the hardware identifier number.

To find the identifier number, look -->> here <<--

Also provide the list that appears in audio controllers.

There's only one item, ATI HDMI Audio.

Could my problem come from a cable that's too worn (I doubt it, but still) between my motherboard and the USB ports?

Go into the BIOS and check if the audio device is enabled, set to enable.

Look in on-board device and/or integrated peripherals.

It was activated, I deactivated it, I restarted and then I reactivated it. I changed the order of the components to start first and I put the sound card in second, the icon no longer indicates "mute" but the volume percentage. However, I still can't hear anything.

Oh, it actually works... The sound card probably didn't start automatically. Thank you for your advice and your patience, Kaneagle, you've really helped me out :)
