Hello,
I have Creative i-Trigue 2.0 PC speakers.
Since yesterday, the power supply for them is causing the left speaker to crackle. It sounds like a dull noise from electrical tension (you see, right :) ).
I did different tests, and if I replace the power supply with that of my laptop, the speakers work correctly.
So, knowing that the power supply for the speakers outputs 11.5V at 1.6A and the laptop's power supply outputs 19V at 4.74A, is there a risk of damaging the speakers or the laptop's power supply?

Hi p-tony, changing the transformer to one with equal or greater current doesn’t have any impact. 4.7A is what your transformer can provide. Since the device requires 1.6A, it will take what it needs from the available 4.7.
However, the voltage is not appropriate. You can use a 12V transformer, but 19V is way too much. You risk burning out components on the amplifier circuits of the speakers. There is protection, but within certain limits.
You need a power supply of 11.5V - 1.6A or higher / 12V - 1.6A or higher, which costs around €15. Make sure the plug diameter matches as well as the polarity (the + can be either inside or outside).
