Insert an image in a WordArt text

Hello,
I used to use Word Art a lot with Office 2003 and I admit that it was great for creating original titles; by dragging the handles, I could resize them as I wanted, and I managed the letter filling perfectly.
I have switched to Office 2010 and I'm rediscovering Word Art and its multiple functions. I like the new ones but I miss the ease of use of the old version.
My problem is that I can't find out how to insert an image into a Word Art text. I've checked tutorials and forums, and I'm starting to think that I'm the only one who used to do that or worse, that I'm the only one who doesn't know how it works.
Thank you very much for your upcoming responses.

Good evening nany

You haven't missed anything because it's simply no longer possible.
I don't know what Irongege used for his demo, he'll probably tell us, but with Word 2010, it's over.

Strangely enough, you can do it with PowerPoint and Excel. This is a solution to then copy it into Word, but be careful with the Image format, otherwise you will lose the filling.

Another clever solution: you create a new doc that you save in 97-2003 format (compatibility mode). You insert your WordArt and format it as you did with version 2003. Then you copy and paste it into your 2010 document. When you select your WordArt created with 2003, a WordArt tab will appear and allow you to modify it if you wish.

The advantage of the second solution is that the SmartArt remains "alive" and editable. With the PowerPoint or Excel solution, it becomes a static image.

Otherwise, for the frame to stick to the text, as you said, you need to apply a transformation to the WordArt object (2010): Text Effects button => Transformation. That being said, it has nothing to do with being able to fill the text with an image.

I succeeded by using your method and it works just as I wanted. Well, generally speaking, I am still getting the hang of Office 2010 but it's going to be fine. Thanks again.

Hello

Insert your WordArt object, then right-click, choose WordArt object format, in the "Colors and Lines" tab, select "Fill Effects" and then "Picture."

Thank you Irongege, it is indeed the effect I am looking for but I can't achieve it. Unlike 2003, with WA 2010 the frame around is not attached to the text, so the photo goes into the frame and not into the text. It's an interesting effect but it's not what I am looking for. And by right-clicking in the text I do not access the image formatting, so I cannot go further in the process you described. If you have an explanation, I thank you. I can imagine that I am missing something, but what?
