Hello to anyone reading this and thank you for this simple fact.
I'm sparing you the details.
I have a text file in machine code that I would like to turn into an executable file.
It is in my mailbox, and when I download it, it always comes as a text file even though it was originally an executable file (cybersterter.exe).

Me too Mister BeeGee,
It reminds me of the image extensions .jpg.vbs characteristic of Script Viruses (like Love Letter)...
... but with a "double-extension" .EXE.txt, I didn't know that (it would be clever on the part of the virus creator). I don't see the point of a .TXT extension since it doesn't turn the file into an executable for the system, whereas .VBS does!
Unless it's some oddity of the email client???!!!
Dioppy,
Are you sure about the sender? Were you expecting this file or did you receive it unexpectedly?
By the way, are you a naughty virus dealer?
(That reminds me of the "neither yes nor no"!)
I'd say you should rename your file
cyberstarter.exe.txt
to
cyberstarter.exe
After detaching the file to your disk: right-click on the file (from Windows Explorer) and rename

Hello Diopy,
Why do you say "when I download it, it always comes in text file format"? Why text format? What does it display in Notepad? What is the file extension?

It is originally the cyberstarter. A software that was sent to me as an attachment by an internet user. I have it in my email inbox where it has a .txt extension (cyberstarter.exe.txt).
My goal is to have it as an executable file. However, when I try to move it from my email inbox to my workstation, it appears as a .text file (containing machine code).
I had managed, and only God knows how, to transform an initial software (Cybersalle.exe), but which was originally in my inbox under the name Cybersalla.exe.txt.
I am sending you the file by email so you can verify.

It really seems very strange to me this double extension .EXE.TXT! I've only seen that for viruses. I can imagine that CYBERSTARTER could be a Trojan horse that is made to be downloaded by a somewhat gullible internet user by promising something enticing.
I hope I'm wrong!

Excuse me for the little!
I simply needed to rename the file.txt to .exe extension and that was it.
It really can happen often that one's mind is quite far from reality. You had to bring me back down to earth because my mind was so far away. That's the way it is!!
Thank you very much for your help even though I must have wasted your time for a minor thing.
Thank you
