VISTA: SCAM OR NOT A SCAM it’s just
I recently received an email from my buddy talking about the hidden face of VISTA.si
In substance, it mentioned that it was almost impossible to use downloads made on Emule and other P2P software.
And that’s not all, it even covers our own DVDs, MP3s that are not copyable or only with horrible sound.
All of this with the approval of the GATES house which would have, so they say, bowed to pressure from the multimedia lobby and others.
So what’s the truth? could someone enlighten my lantern before I buy a pig in a poke.
Pipe-up or reality?
Thanks in advance for your posts

mp3 => no DRM so readable without issues!
During a copy, Vista doesn’t go ahead and re-encode an MP3 to a lower quality! During ripping? well I’d say it depends on the codec and the software used....
P2P works without issues!
What about DVDs? it all depends on the DRM!
So basically you won’t have a problem with Vista if you don’t purchase DRM’ed content
Big Brother would spy on us? I don’t know about that! -
The perversity of Windows Vista
Windows Vista, Microsoft's latest operating system, is stuffed with anti-piracy and content-blocking systems under pressure from companies like the MPAA, the RIAA, or the SGAE and under the pretext of fighting piracy. These systems are integrated into the core programming of the system, making them very difficult to remove or bypass.
The result is that if you install Windows Vista or buy a PC with Windows Vista preinstalled, you can no longer view or record videos nor listen to or record music downloaded from the Internet.
Even more seriously, in many cases you will not be able to do so even if you have legally purchased the content, because the integrated DRM (digital rights management) does not allow, for example, you to record a legally purchased song or a DVD onto your MP3 player, nor to record a selection of legally purchased songs for the CD in your car. And often, you will not even be able to record a legally purchased movie on your computer or on any media other than a specific drive authorized by Microsoft and the content creators. If you try to do so, the recording will be of poor quality or outright impossible.
The only safe solution to fight against this abuse is not to install Windows Vista and to refuse any PC that tries to sell you with Windows Vista preinstalled. Continue using your Windows XP or consider switching to a “free” operating system like Linux.
Please, circulate this information. It is possible that if Microsoft realizes there is no way to sell Windows Vista because of this scandalous provision, they will think twice.

It's all about my bro's post!!!
in any case opinions are divided with a slight edge against big bros.
For me it doesn't really encourage me to install it unless I can work around the problem - probably not tomorrow - and without it creating usage error messages worthy of Microsoft.
to misfortune I have coupons to skip to the full premium version.
given that I download a lot with everything that implies (encoding, etc.) I'm not very keen, you know
it's true that XP is still on top especially with service packs. The only problem is the buildup of unwanted files that nestle everywhere up to the registry among other places and that end up corrupting Windows despite good cleanup software. The only solution is regular reformatting.
okay I'm done bothering you with my moodiness and thanks for your views.
happy surfing,

On Vista I read in a folder in a Canadian magazine about Windows Vista that said:
The codes used for implementing drivers for the peripherals are coded in such a way that the manufacturer will subsequently have to make printed circuit boards for each different quality range that exists.
In short, it basically means that because of this, if it is true, piece prices will probably rise by 20 to 50% in the coming years.
but it remains to be confirmed

in Missouri,
I’m not here to defend Vista...
Nevertheless!
"i have a friend with this darn Vista, impossible to download a single MP3 or even read their own videos and burn them with a ridiculously lousy sound, he’s an amateur musician and those software are unusable for him while with XP no problem...
"
He’s really not smart... I’ve already downloaded quite a lot of MP3 by various means... (HTTP, FTP, P2P..etc...)
I had no problem reading them...
I had no problem encoding music (without DRM)
No problem encoding video...
No problem reading videos (you also need to have the codecs!!!!)
Then it all depends on the software he uses, some are incompatible! Do not generalize! Lots of software, free to boot, for audio/video editing work fine!
So there you go!
Personally, the big thing that bothers me in Vista!!!! I tested at first a version with a pirate serial and activated Vista BEFORE having my valid serial!!!!
The hiccup is that when downloading a genuine Microsoft update, Microsoft can deactivate Vista remotely! and revert it to a trial version (30 days) after which it runs in a very limited version!
It is very disturbing that Microsoft can deactivate remotely!" -
hi
Have you at least tried what you claim?
I’m not here to defend Vista, but I have no problem with mp3, video or anything else, I have Vista Home Premium
"He’s really not bright... I’ve already downloaded quite a few MP3s by various means... (HTTP, FTP, P2P..etc...)
I had no problem playing them...
I had no problem encoding music (without DRM)
No problems encoding video...
No problem playing videos (you also need the codecs!!!!)"
the same for me, DVD copy (anydvd+clonedvd2) no problems even protected
we’ll see how things go later .
the only downside concerns account control, alerts at odd hours etc...
as well as all the info that must be communicated to Microsoft&co without us being able to know

Bof !!! Soon we'll have to equip ourselves with machines cooled by liquid nitrogen... all that just to have the latest from Bill, which keeps getting more and more complicated, and in the end we don't really know for what purpose anymore !!!!!
Long life to XP !!!!! -
