Difference between these two processors

Hello,

Hi! So here is my question!

I have an ASUS Notebook k52JU/k52jt series

I did some research on compatible processors for my PC and it suggests an Intel® Core(TM) i5 Processor 540M/520M/450M/430M. I couldn't find any of these i5s on sales websites; I only found the Intel® Core(TM) i5 Processor 460M. Even with this difference in power and name, does it change anything in terms of compatibility?

Thank you in advance. :)

Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 25.0.1364.97

Changing the CPU on a laptop is quite risky for a simple reason: heat dissipation. You should know the current temperature of your CPU and if your PC is clean before going any further.
Also, check your socket, as there are 2 different ones for this generation of CPUs:
    BGA1288 and PGA988

When in doubt, reboot!! If you're hesitant, format!!
Be careful, this is a "proverb," not advice....

The heat dissipation is fine, it's clean and I clean it often

    So I can't take the 460M but the 450M.

Have you checked what socket your motherboard has?

Well, actually, I don't know where it is.

      Socket 989 rPGA

And I saw the difference in the sockets between my current processor and the one I want

      Sockets supported: i5 BGA1288, PGA988 Intel Pentium P6200 PGA988

But for me it's not compatible, then it remains to be tested.

Are you sure? Because my current CPU only supports PGA988 sockets and my PC has a 989 rPGA socket. So even the one I have right now is not compatible... and the i5 supports PGA988 sockets. So for me, it's compatible. I'm going to do some research and I'll keep you updated :)

Here I quickly found what I was looking for; it is indeed compatible with my PC, as evidenced by this link https://www.asus.com/Laptops/K52JT/#specifications

test and you'll see, I still wonder if this socket is not very slightly different.
