Hello,
I'm in deep trouble.
Last night I cleaned my computer following the advice in the "my PC is slow, what to do?" section.
However, I did not delete the restore points.
This morning I had lost my 200 addresses collected over a year of hard work and neatly organized in the Firefox bookmarks.
No problem, I told myself, I'll restore it.
Horror, everything had disappeared....
Thank you to anyone who can guide me in restoring this bookmark or at least in recovering the restore points.
Thank you

This inconvenience may have happened to you before. After a crash of the Firefox browsing client, all your bookmarks (the equivalent of favorites in Internet Explorer) have disappeared. So, unless you know all the addresses of your favorite websites by heart, you had to search for the pages one by one and re-save them again. To prevent this from happening, there is a simple solution that involves backing up these bookmarks.
1. RECOVER
First, launch the Firefox software. Then, expand the "Bookmarks" menu and select "Organize Bookmarks."
In the new page that appears, expand the "File" menu and select "Import."
Then you just need to search on your PC, the name of the search tool is normally bookmarks and you will click on it, there you go.
Your bookmarks will now be restored. And to ensure this doesn’t worsen, follow the second instruction:
2. The second step is to back them up.
First, launch the Firefox software. Then, expand the "Bookmarks" menu and select "Organize Bookmarks."
In the new page that appears, expand the "File" menu and select "Export."
And place it wherever you want.

in the same path:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ygfpv9i0.default
you should have a folder named bookmarkbackups.
inside it is usually the backup of your bookmarks.
By opening firefox, bookmarks, manage bookmarks you should be able to use it to restore your bookmarks.

Restored bookmark!!! Thank you, chef.
But where will I find the system restore points... because I guarantee that I haven't deleted them.
I do have daily system checkpoints, but the dialogue box tells me that no changes have been made to the registry...
Another problem I have on the CCM site is that the display switches to black text on a white background, whereas it doesn't happen on others.

Thank you for your response.
However, I just launched Tune Up Utility and especially its tool "TuneUp Undelete" which just recovered 15,960 deleted files in good condition for the most part, some of which date back to 2006.
What would be the name of this "cache"?

All your Firefox cache has been erased after following the instructions of "my PC is slow... what to do?"
You should never embark on cleanups or other suggestions, even if there is a tutorial, without first knowing what will happen.
Unfortunately, I think that this cache is permanently erased, even with a system restore.

Thank you... Do you happen to know the way?? Because it seems to me that I restored a beast like that and maybe my "fire fox" doesn't know how to open it anymore??
file found at
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ygfpv9i0.default
it's a 266kb BAK file named: bookmarks.html. last modified on 02/23/2007 but the issue dates from this morning
what's that??

Curiosity is a bad flaw;-)
I'm joking, of course. But I don't know if it's worth knowing what really happened.
Moreover, if we try to figure out the why and how, I'm afraid it will take us a lot of time.
See you later

OK you are right, but I pointed out another display issue:
The other problem I have on the CCM site is that the display turns to black text on a white background, which doesn't happen on others.
Here is the error message from the Firefox console:
Warning: Unknown property 'filter'. Declaration dropped.
Source file: default.css
Line: 3 Warning: Unknown property 'filter'. Declaration dropped.
Source file: default.css
Line: 3

I'm saying this because you wouldn't be the first person to encounter problems since the install of version 2.0.0.2 of Firefox.
Otherwise, I don't really see what it could be.

I just had the same problem and I thank those who provided the solution, you just saved me from the sh*t if I may say so ^^
Hello,
I have the same problem; bookmarks were deleted after the Firefox update, installation of version 2.
But when I explore Firefox, I can't find the Profiles folder or any username, so I don't have any saved data!
I have reinstalled some bookmarks from memory, but if they are saved somewhere, I would really like to find them!

You need to "unhide the hidden files"! Let me explain, go to "My Computer", "Tools", "Folder Options...", then the "View" tab and finally check the box "Show hidden files and folders".
There you go, and after that it should work.. good luck!
I have a problem too, I've lost my bookmarks but since then I've changed bookmarks twice
SUMMARY: my old bookmarks that I want are no longer in bookmarks backup so I don't know if there's a remedy
See you later!

I read your email because I have the same problem with the erased bookmark, and after applying data, I couldn't see the rest of what you said.
Can you tell me more?
Thank you.

Another solution, which I have already used well, is that a bookmark file is automatically created with each important change in the operation of Firefox, which often saves us from drowning.
What a genius, the person who invented Firefox, saving all these little losers like us…
Here is the exact address of the auto backups, which obviously does not work after a formatting.
And don’t forget to show your hidden files in the tools/folder options...
C:\Documents and Settings\PC name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\mrlh5w11.default\bookmarkbackups
is my bookmark backup from before the system recovery, which was done without my permission but forgiven.
Hoping to have saved you. Happy New Year to all!

+ this solution doesn't work all the time ^^ (see: https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-21789373-problem-avec-firefox-et-skype-en-meme-temps#p21789373)
After doing some cleaning on my Mac using the CCleaner software, I lost my hundreds of bookmarks collected and stored in the bookmarks (favorites) of Firefox....
Can you help me find them?! Because the methods mentioned above refer to PC, and I can't find the equivalent on Mac.
Thank you very much!
