Hello everyone!
On this fateful day, I am reaching out for your help, as I rarely post subjects to ask for assistance, Google usually allowing me to find answers to my questions almost all the time!
As you can understand, I searched and searched, but I couldn’t find a solution to my problem. Let me explain:
On Monday, while I was receiving my new Devolo powerline adapters and GTA IV (complete edition), I installed everything. I rediscovered the joys of a good connection (I had switched to WiFi with the last powerline adapters) and could fully enjoy playing GTA online with my friends. In the evening, I played a game or two of League of Legends, with no connection issues to report.
On Tuesday, after my computer hadn’t been turned off since the previous day, I came back from class and tried to connect to League of Legends: “The server is currently busy.”
So I figured a patch must be applying, as is usually the case in this sort of situation.
In the evening, I tried playing GTA online again, but it told me I wasn’t connected to Social Club even though I was. I looked for solutions thinking the issue was with the game, but after trying various things that should have solved it, nothing worked and I began to doubt.
I then tried to connect to League of Legends again, and it still didn’t work while my friends were connected.
So I searched for various solutions all evening, but none worked.
Tonight, still the same issues, I decided to test with Guild Wars 2 to be sure that the problem was indeed general: while I downloaded the update without issue, I could not log in afterwards.
Here’s a recap of the current state of things as well as what I have done to try to resolve the issue:
Windows firewall disabled.
No antivirus.
No other form of security implemented.
Livebox firewall set to low.
Cleaning with CCleaner.
Cleaning with Spybot (no spyware detected).
Flushing the DNS cache of the computer.
Manually assigning DNS using Google's (8.8.8.8 | 8.8.4.4).
Restarting the computer.
You understand, I’m starting to have a good understanding of everything related to computers especially regarding problems, but this one is beyond me. I can’t find a thread discussing the issue as usually, network problems are only related to specific games.
Thank you for reading my post - a bit long admittedly but I wanted to provide details - and thank you in advance for any help you can provide!
P.S.: I placed the subject in the DNS section, as it seemed to correspond, even though the issue doesn’t seem to stem from there.
Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 24.0.1312.57

Re!
I'm not editing my message to highlight the solution because, yes, I've solved my problem.
I tried playing Guild Wars 2 again, and it worked even though I hadn't found the solution; I instead looked into League of Legends.
The problem came from Internet Explorer; even though I don't use it, here's yet another good reason to hate it.
So, go to Internet Explorer (mine was version 9), press Alt to bring up the menu bar, then uncheck "Work Offline." Indeed, this was checked when I switched from WiFi to powerline adapters because there was no internet connection during that time.
I also recommend doing these few steps:
- Go to "Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings"
- Ensure that everything is unchecked except "Automatically detect settings"
- Click OK, then go to "Tools > Internet Options > Advanced," and then click "Reset Advanced Settings"
There you go; after this, I tried to connect to League of Legends, and it worked (no need to restart), I imagine it should work with GTA IV again as well.
If you ever have more problems with online games, think about checking Internet Explorer; I find it completely silly to be dependent on this junk, but oh well...
PROBLEM SOLVED!

Thank you for your help.
Without you, I would have gone through a really sad lockdown.
