Hello,
I have a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2) and I would like to uninstall the Messages application. However, when I try to move this item to the Trash, a message tells me that this is not possible because Mac OS requires this item. So, is it really impossible to uninstall or remove this application? If so, is it possible to disable it so I no longer receive messages or, at worst, to no longer see them?
Thank you very much for your help!
Configuration: Mac OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2) / Chrome 24.0.1312.56

Hello,
"Messages" replaces iChat from previous OS versions, and I think it's enough not to open it to avoid being bothered.
If the app opens at startup, it's because it has been set to launch in the System Preferences/accounts/login items;
Just select it and click the minus sign (-) at the bottom of the window.
The app will not be deleted but will remain closed.

Hello,
On Mountain Lion, you cannot uninstall it; this application is like on an iPhone, it is an integral part of the system.
Best regards
