Hello everyone,
I am facing a connectivity issue between a laptop (Windows 7) and a Siemens S7 1214 PLC over Ethernet.
Let me explain the situation a bit more,
I need to program my PLC, which is blank. To do this, I connected my PC directly to the PLC, and Windows detects an unknown network. I went to the Network and Sharing Center, and the diagram indicates that the connection is not reaching the network.
I then performed a ping test to verify, first using automatic IP and then with the fixed IP recommended by Siemens (which is 192.168.0.99), and in both cases, the result is the same:
"unable to reach the destination host".
I find myself in a deadlock, and since this is a PLC that controls safety devices, I cannot afford to spend 2 weeks looking for the solution alone.
That's why I am reaching out to your knowledge and kindness to help me a little.
Thank you all for your attention

Hi, first of all, thank you for taking some time to respond to me.
I've already tried disabling the firewall, disabling and re-enabling my network card (just in case).
The result remains the same:
"unable to reach the destination host."
The worst part of this story is that when I make my ping request, I see the rx/tx LED going crazy, proof that the device is indeed receiving something :/
I have screenshots of my ipconfig but I don't see how to send them to you since I'm currently in Congo and the connection here is low bandwidth (very low bandwidth, about an hour to upload a photo).

Hi
How is the PC connected to the PLC?
Directly? Straight cable? Crossed?
Via a switch?
What is the TCP/IP configuration of the PLC? IP? Subnet mask? Gateway? DNS?

hi kaumune
as mentioned in my post, I am using a direct ethernet cable to the controller (without a router, hub, or anything else)
the configuration of the controller (at least as indicated in the siemens manual):
IP address: 192.168.0.1
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
no indication for gateway or DNS
the configuration of the PC (as recommended by siemens):
IP address: 192.168.0.99
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
no indication for gateway or DNS

Hello
Try disabling the W7 firewall.

I just ran an ipconfig/all and I noticed that my DHCP is disabled. Does this have an impact? If so, how can I enable it on Windows Seven?
Well no, on the contrary, it needs to be disabled since you are in direct connection without a DHCP server
Have you disabled IPv6?
If you know how to configure the TCP/IP settings, you know how to uncheck the IPv6 box in the network card properties
Otherwise, with the PC you are using to write here, how do you connect to the internet?

Well, I've just tried to disable IPv6, the problem persists; I'm attaching the important lines from my ipconfig:

Hello everyone,
As I said before, I went to try Choubaka's trick and here's what the command prompt gave me:

I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't program that automaton with a hammer.

If the PC is properly configured and the cable is good, the only non-verifiable element is the IP configuration of the controller.
Do you not have a button to reset the configuration of this controller?
In the documentation (page 11), there is mention of software to configure it (apparently starting with the MAC address), have you used it?

Yes, of course, to enter the program into the controller, I have to use the TIA Portal software from Siemens.
But when I use the online tool of the software, it tells me that no subscriber is present on the network, that's why I started my diagnosis via the command prompt.
P.S. Since our last conversation, I have reinstalled my controller and reset all the connection parameters (the Siemens IP and the parameters you advised me on (thanks again)), but no change, the controller is not recognized by TIA Portal or by Windows.

For the reset button, it's negative (I just dropped off the PLC to try with another one I had as a spare (same problem), I've turned it upside down and can't find the reset button) apparently you need to use an MC card but as I said I can't get one here.
I've tried all the options in the software including "Update accessible subscribers" but it doesn't find any subscribers.
I just found a utility on the Siemens website:
http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?func=cslib.csinfo&objId=40725842&load=treecontent&lang=en&siteid=cseus&aktprim=0&objaction=csview&extranet=standard&viewreg=WW
It is used to change the IP address of my PLC without going through the TIA portal software, but I'm not very optimistic since if there’s no connection to the PLC, it won’t be able to change anything at all but I'll try anyway.
(the software is 55MB so it will take time with a download speed of 15KB/s)

I went all out, meaning I replaced my controller with a new one, changed the cable, switched PCs and operating systems (I went from Windows 7 to XP).
Result: no change.
I am still waiting for a response from Siemens and the company that installed the system.
I will inform you of the solution in case it can help someone else with the same problem and that you didn't do this for nothing.
Thank you for your help, but I'm throwing in the towel due to lack of time.
