[Freebox] VCR on the Freebox HD

Hello,

I want to connect my VCR to my Freebox HD to try recording a VHS tape onto the hard drive. I'm not sure it's doable, but rather than buying an acquisition card or something similar I think, why not. There are RCA input jacks on the Freebox. Could it work? And if yes, how?

    By default, the image sent by the Freebox is in composite RGB color. To record it, your VCR tries, more or less, to convert to PAL, resulting in an image with colors that are somewhat unstable. To address this, you should use the Freebox’s S-Video output and the VCR, and specify in the Freebox settings that you are using S-Video and not RGB. However, if your computer has a composite output, you can also connect your VCR to this output, retrieve the recording via FTP, read the .ts file with VLC media player in full screen, and record.

    Hello, what I want is to branch a game console (Wii) onto the Freebox HD input ports Red/Yellow/White to share the HDMI output going to the video projector... Is that possible?

    Hello,

    I tried to connect a VCR to my TV with the Freebox, but the image received by Free is worse. Did I get my wires crossed?

    The antenna cable goes to the VCR,
    the SCART (péritel) input of the TV goes to the VCR,
    the SCART input of the Freebox also goes to the VCR..
    Did I get my wires crossed?

    As long as Free does not enable the video inputs on the Freebox, you will have no hope regarding a possible conversion from VHS to the hard drive.

    Sorry, the capture card remains the only option.
