video head adjustment on VCR

Hello,
I would like some tips on how to adjust the video head of my VCR because for the past few days the picture keeps switching from color to black and white with occasional static, and it’s obviously very unpleasant!
If someone can help me, maybe I can save time and money!

It may also be that the pedal tracking is stuck in the semolina and can't adjust itself...

If you're diving into this with a screwdriver as a tool, expect to mess it up more than to fix it!

However, you can start by cleaning the video head (the small slots on the spinning drum) but definitely not with a cotton swab!!!
For example, use 90° alcohol (no scented stuff, it's greasy!) and a simple white paper soaked in alcohol that you place on the slots while turning the drum (not the other way around, don't rub the paper on the drum!).

The rest, the tape guides, and the erase and sound playback heads can be cleaned with a cotton swab, though...

Also, don't touch the adjustments of the tape guides...

In short, you don't become a video technician just like that on a whim!

It's not a misalignment but rather a dirty video head, which can be resolved by using a cleaning tape or a worn reading head. It's better to consult a professional.

no need to be a pro to run a cleaning cassette. but if the problem persists, it's better to see one.
