My PS3 turns on, but the screen displays nothing.

Hello,

So, well, the title is self-explanatory, that's true. But it needs a few more details, right? So, I connect my console to my television which is naturally plugged in. All the cables work perfectly. But one problem persists. I turn on my console and the screen stays black while the LED is green; moreover, the fan spins quickly at first, then slows down, and then nothing, as if it were just spinning slowly, not needing to be used. So, I tried several similar question proposals on this forum, such as:

- Holding down the power button for 10 seconds, which is supposed to lower the graphic resolution, from what I understand, and thus possibly restart the console after a double beep from it.
After trying: I was surprised not to hear two beeps. So I must have done it wrong, or the maneuver did nothing for my console; not very conclusive tests.

- Removing the hard drive, turning on the console, seeing what happens, turning it off and putting the hard drive back.
After trying: The console still has the same problem.

I really hope you can help me with this issue.. It's desperate --' !
Thank you in advance!

Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 23.0.1271.97

I found a solution to my problem.
The PS3 would turn on but nothing would display. I tried to turn it on in safe mode by waiting for the two quick beeps during the second startup (see tutorial online). Unfortunately, that didn't work. Just out of curiosity, I wondered why there were three beeps before the console turned off when I held down the power button. So I tried everything again from the beginning (unplugging and replugging if necessary).

Here is the method that worked: I held down the power button, and after the SECOND beep (not the third one that turns off the console), I released it and stopped pressing the button. And as if by magic, my TV detected the signal. Since I was using the three yellow, red, and white AV cables before the problem, I switched to an HDMI cable. A message appeared indicating that an HDMI cable had been detected and asked if I wanted to switch to HDMI signal. I clicked yes and then adjusted the resolution according to my TV's specifications. The console then started up normally.

I concluded that the second beep at startup likely automatically reconfigures the DISPLAY signal of the PS3.

For added safety, I immediately turned off and rebooted my console in safe mode to go to the option: rebuild database, which I think is the minimum to do, since I don't want to lose any data on the hard drive by going to the restore file system or restore PS3 system options that are also found in safe mode.

I hope this has been helpful to you. If so, CHEERS!!! :)

You are a god! I thank you greatly; you really helped me a lot. I used to think my PS3 was broken, but thanks to you I realized that nothing is enough to force repair, inspiration, and perspective could change everything.
