Hello
We gave The Sims 2 on PC to my sister.
The installation went well, but the screen resolution isn't correct; she has 1280 * 800 but the display options only offer 800 * 600, so it pixelates, it's slow sometimes, especially when the lights come on, in short, she's complaining (just a girl :D)
If you could help me, that would be nice, because she keeps bothering me about it all day long,
Thank you in advance
Conan
PS: I'm sure everyone who has a sister understands me

I have exactly the same problem, except it's with my girlfriend...
I gave her the latest Sims 2 add-on, and now it's the same, only 800x600, and it looks ugly, very ugly, so she's complaining too ^^. Does anyone have a solution or knows where it might be coming from?
Thanks

It's good, while browsing the net I found the trick: you need to go to the Sims2\TSdata\Res\Config folder and open the GraphicsRules.sgr file (with Windows Notepad).
Then you need to find the line that says "setb forceLowResolution true" and replace the "true" with "false".
Do the same a few lines below, "setb forceLowResolution true", enter "false" again.
Save the file and you should find all possible resolutions in the game's graphic options. I hope I was clear enough.

Calm down, I found it since then :)
So create a file in My Documents, then in EA Games > The Sims 2 > Config, the file will be named "userStartup.cheat" (without quotes), then put this inside:
If you're lucky, it should be set from the start; if not, load a neighborhood, go to the graphics options, and click on the circle next to your resolution :)
