Vista WiFi Connection Solved

Question

Hello,
I currently have an XP connected via wifi to my Livebox Inventel and it is connected to the Internet.
I'm trying to connect a Vista via wifi, and I get the following message when I go to 'connect to a network': 'The saved settings on this computer for the network do not match the requirements for the network'. What settings is it referring to?
I should add that I changed the channel to 10 and the security is set to 'WPA only'. Moreover, the Vista is connected via Ethernet to the Livebox and works perfectly.

I work with a hotline (technical support) and I can give you the solution for this problem. Indeed, the message "The parameters saved on this computer for the network do not match the configuration required for the network" appears because the network is already saved on your computer and you are trying to connect to the same network with different settings. You need to go to Start / Control Panel / Network and Sharing Center / Manage Wireless Networks / and remove all the networks from your list, then restart the computer. After that, you can access your modem's interface and change your network name (SSID) and the broadcast channel if the signal is weak. Then go to Start / Connect, choose your network, click Connect, and enter the WPA security key preferably, and it should work.

I have exactly the same problem.
I have a laptop with Vista and integrated Wi-Fi. I already have a PC connected to Wi-Fi but I can't get my laptop to work.
It shows me the same error message as you: The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements for the network.
Could you let me know if you solved this problem and especially how?

To connect your Vista phone to Wi-Fi, you just need to press the sync button on your Livebox and hope it works ^^ because during this time (about a minute), your Livebox accepts all computers that want to connect to it. That's it, bye bye all.

Hello,
I had the same problem as you.
In fact, I realized that there were 2 firewalls on my PC: the Windows firewall and the Norton antivirus one that was installed with the computer. I disabled both, and now there are no more issues.

I had the same issue. I brought it back to my supplier, who connected it very well to his own live box. Not knowing where the problem came from, he simply removed my live box from my computer. When I got home, my computer found my live box again, and I was able to re-enter my key and connect correctly. I had typed it wrong at first, but no error message appeared.
I think he deleted it from the network and sharing center or something like that.
There you go, if that can help! I'm not very skilled, but my problem is resolved.

I have the same problem! Unfortunately, it is not resolved in any way even with all these tweaks! I've had my laptop for almost a year, a Toshiba, with Vista and "Pentium dual-core inside." I've never been able to connect properly to Wi-Fi! It's not for lack of trying, though! The forums have often helped me connect, but never for more than two days.
Recently this message has also appeared; I did as instructed and yet it still doesn't work, my Livebox doesn't even appear at all in "connections," so I can't try to enter the WAP address.

Just after posting my message, I left my computer alone for a while to give it a little rest. And oh joy! I was connected to Wi-Fi! It had worked!
Unfortunately, despair followed, as it only worked in the evening and the next day.
Today, I'm back to being forced to connect via cable.
Of course, I checked if the Wi-Fi on my Toshiba and my box was working. I also changed the channel.
I really don't understand...

for me the solution was:
right-click on the network shortcut icon (the two small computers at the bottom right)
network and sharing center
manage wireless networks
right-click on the livebox icon
uninstall a network
close it
then repeat the process to connect to a wireless network, as usual
there your livebox appeared without the error message and you see the small green bars that indicate the connection level. (mine had disappeared and besides the message I had a red cross)
you click to connect, then it will ask you for the key again, you enter it again
and for me it worked. to make sure it works, a few seconds before I pressed the button under the livebox to search for my computer.
I think it worked on my second attempt.

for me no more issues right away in any case

I had the same problem as you, so I did what Adil said and then the cross no longer appeared. After that, I restarted and now my computer doesn't detect my Freebox at all. If someone could help me, that would be nice ^^.

2. Control Panel
3. Network and Internet
4. Network and Sharing Center
5. Manage Wireless Networks
6. Remove the faulty network

There you go!
If it still doesn't work, ALSO do:

7. Right-click on the faulty network
8. Properties
9. Security
10. Security type: WPA - Personal
11. Encryption type: TKIP or AES (try both)
12. Network security key: Enter your WEP key
If you’ve lost it: Download WirelessKeyView

Hello I had the same issue with Freebox. The trick of deleting my Wi-Fi connection and recreating it worked, but what’s strange is that my Free and/or my computer recreate my old connection (different name) and it’s only this way that I manage to connect... it seems very strange to me...  So in the icon at the bottom right I have the name of my old connection, and when I open the network sharing center to manage my connections, I see the old one that I manually deleted and the new one???  In any case, thanks for helping me move forward in resolving my issue.

Hello, My issue is that I have internet access but the little red cross always appears with the message "'The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the configuration required for the network''. Sometimes it disappears and the Wi-Fi bars display normally. I don’t know why this cross appears when I still have internet access. Thank you.
