Hello,
My printer kept displaying "paper jam...." but there was nothing visible.
Seeing on forums that the best advice was to change the printer, I thought I had nothing to lose, so I took it apart to find that piece of paper stuck.
At first, it was easy, but be careful with the hood spring, a white plastic thing that closes when you pull it out. A nasty little beast that bites hard (15 days with a doll).
The clips are quite fragile to handle, so be gentle, and as a final gift from Epson, the last screw is hidden under the control panel. The panel is glued, so you'll need to peel it off from the top. With little effort, there's an unpleasant crack, but nothing is broken, the glue is weak. As you go along, you disconnect the cables which are obviously too short.
I didn't go any further in disassembly; you can access the rollers and gears. I spent a quarter of an hour searching for that darn piece of paper, but found nothing.
So I put everything back together, and to my surprise, no more problems; it works like on the first day.
I think disconnecting the cables reset everything.
I don't know if this works for other Epson printers or other bugs, and I hope never to have to test it.
As a precaution, I'm not gluing the dashboard back; it holds well as it is.

Hello,
I also had this paper jam issue with a Multifunction SX415, and since I use refillable cartridges that I reset the chip on after each refill, I thought this problem stemmed from that.
If my problem persists (it doesn't jam all the time, but often enough), I think I will operate on it like you did; I'm quite handy, and this won't be the first printer I've disassembled. Thank you, Grandpa Michel. -
Beware of the spring, I used to be a maintenance technician and I was caught out. The "silly" thing that you remove without paying attention..

I see you are well informed, disassembling a printer is not harder than repairing a C5 tachometer (broken plastic shaft, replaced with a resistor leg of the same diameter, in the end everything works wonderfully) The springs are often very tricky, you must observe them carefully before any disassembly and note their mounting direction.
