Hello,
I have a perpetual crackling (like micro-sizzles in fact) when I watch a video or listen to music using Google Chrome.
This does not occur when using IE, or using WMP or Real Player.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?
Configuration: Windows XP / Chrome 23.0.1271.64

Finally I’ve searched for hours; it’s fixed for me.
No more crackling, no more cuts, sound is once again clear.
The solution:
You must disable Flash Player in Chrome.
1) Enter “about:plugins” (without the quotes) in the address bar at the top of the Chrome browser window.
2) On the plugins page that appears, look for the Shockwave Flash or Adobe Flash Player and click the corresponding disable button.
3) Close all Chrome windows and restart the browser.
Going to YouTube to listen to a song, it offered me to download the latest version, so I had no choice and tried it (otherwise it would have removed) and I downloaded version 11.5.502.110 (I had 11.5.31.2).
And this sentence taught me a lot on the site: >>
All versions of Flash Player, regardless of the browser, allow you to enjoy the same range of online applications and content (games, videos and rich applications). Thanks to the Flash Player integrated into Google Chrome, users will no longer need to download Flash Player separately, and will thus be able to immediately enjoy the Web. The browser also automatically updates the integrated Flash Player to protect users with the latest security updates.
If the Flash Player integrated in Chrome is disabled, Chrome will try to use the separately downloaded and installed Flash Player plug-in on the user’s system (“system plug-in”).
If multiple Flash Player plug-ins are enabled, Chrome will give priority to the integrated Flash Player.
And here’s the link:

Maybe it’s also the update that solved the problem, so worth knowing.. The most important thing is that it works.
Hoping this helps others. -

Hello!
I've had the same problem for a few days, following a Flash player update. I uninstalled it, then reinstalled it. I also uninstalled Google Chrome and reinstalled it. I don't have this problem in Internet Explorer. How can I fix this crackling sound and also the slowdown of videos played on Google Chrome.
I want to specify that the PC sound is intact!
Thanks if anyone can suggest some possible approaches -
Hi, for me it’s the same, I’ve searched in vain! With my browser chrome, it’s impossible to watch a video because the sound slows down and it crackles to the point of not understanding anything! I have exactly what Cathy described, so there must be others with this situation. Nobody to fix it, or quickly a fix in a update to rectify this problem.

Hello!!
I just got the same problem and I fixed it myself :) What you need to do is simply uninstall "Google Chrome" and reinstall it right after rebooting your PC.
I should mention that my issue was that after a few hours of using my PC, since I leave it plugged in online 24/7 for p2p sharing (with μTorrent), I also left Google Chrome on, and I don’t know why, it happened for a few days (let’s say a maximum of 1 week) the glitch appeared suddenly without warning!
I thought I might need to format my PC since it’s been since I bought my new setup (Intel Core i7-4770K Haswell 4X3.5 at 3.9 GHz 8Mb L2 LGA1150 Box, Asus Z87-PRO C2 1150 Intel Z87 USB3 SATA3 DDR3 and Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 770) that perhaps the motherboard had an issue... So I only uninstalled and reinstalled Google Chrome and the problems were gone x)
Best regards and good luck for the rest!
