What to do when my iPhone is glitching and opening apps on its own?

Hey everyone! So, I bought my iPhone from Free around March. Everything was fine until yesterday when it started bugging a lot! It opens apps by itself, opens Spotlight, types text, changes pages without me touching it. I put it in DFU mode but that didn't change anything, the bugs were still there. I let it drain and kept it off all night. This morning I plugged it in, it turned back on and was still bugging. I decided to do the latest iOS update. Again, the bugs didn’t go away. The problem is that I’m on vacation abroad. When I return to France, I’m thinking of going to Apple. Do you think they will replace it for me? Or do you have another solution?

As agreed, I restored my iPhone after it had been turned off for 24 to 48 hours, and despite that, the bugs are still present but less significant. You might say that’s a good sign, but I don’t think so because if I take it back to Apple, I’m afraid they’ll tell me it’s not bugging enough or something like that to replace it. The thing is, when you spend over €400 on a phone and a few months later it starts bugging, you really don’t want to be stuck with a phone that has more or less significant bugs. What do you think? Do you think Apple will replace it for me? Thanks in advance ;)

Hi, so I made an appointment at Apple and they told me either they would repair it on the spot in 30 minutes or they would replace it... Between us, I'd prefer to get a brand new one :D

Hi, don't think you'll get a new one if you exchange it; you'll get a refurbished iPhone.
Let us know how your appointment went when you go there..

Hi,

Apple will not automatically replace your iPhone. In fact, they will send it to a service center, and if the problem is "serious/unrepairable," they will replace the iPhone for you. The people working in the Apple Store cannot decide to replace it. I have already had an iPhone repaired under warranty. First, I logged onto the Apple website:

Click on Support, then iPhone, then Contact Support, then Apple Support, then Getting Started,
choose an unspecified problem, explain your issue and what you have already done (restoring the iPhone)
continue the procedure until the end; it seems you will need to provide your ID and phone number, and they will call you..
They will open a case and give you the option of how to send them your iPhone; if you have an Apple Store, you can even drop it off there...

They might lend you an iPhone during the repair.

EDIT: If you have AppleCare+, you can request Express Replacement for the device, which means they send you a new device and you need to return the old one. You have to make this explicit request.

No, the Mac that is here does not have the correct version of iTunes and I don't think we can update it.

Hi, if the Mac is too old and can't have the right version of iTunes, you indeed can't restore the device, but be careful, restoring the device on an iTunes that the iPhone has never been connected to will erase the iPhone, and you might end up with a blank iPhone just like the first day.

Yes ;) but tomorrow I will have access to a PC. Yes, indeed I would lose my data but my contacts and photos are backed up with iCloud and I can download the apps again afterwards.

Be careful not to make the same mistake again.
It could be one or more apps that are causing your device to bug.

I don't think it's one (or more) applications that can make it bug like that. Especially since I don't have a lot of space, so I never download any.

In fact, it didn't work for very long... barely 24 hours. Incomprehensible...

Hello everyone, I have EXACTLY the same problem. @Na I used the same trick of disabling the "focus" and it actually worked for 24 hours, no more. I wonder if it might be an issue with the connectors that need cleaning, rather than a real screen problem. Does anyone have an idea?

The topic is really dated, but it's the first one listed on Google when you type "crazy touch iPhone," so I'm sharing my perspective to help those who are in this mess. I have an iPhone 5 and a 5s; both had this crazy touch issue where they clicked everywhere, really possessed. I bought a glass screen (two, since I have two iPhones), and after applying them on Monday, there have been NO MORE BUGS since then. So if it's not an issue with a poorly connected ribbon inside the iPhone, I highly recommend buying a glass screen on Amazon (they're really cheap) or a plastic film! There you go :) it worked for me on both iPhones.

Hello, I have the same problem. I changed the screen, reset the phone, but it's still the same. Whenever it bugs, I put it to sleep with the on/off button, and it works fine for 5 minutes, then it bugs again.

I have the same problem with mine... it clicks everywhere and even calls people in the middle of the night while I'm sleeping... it's really a hassle!!!!!
And yet I have the screen protector..... :(

Re, simply because when a device breaks down it is normally always repaired, and if it cannot be repaired, the device is replaced by an equivalent. Apple has a stock of so-called "trade-in" devices; these devices are refurbished and it is these devices that they give to customers as part of a replacement.
If Apple exchanges your device, what do you think happens to your old iPhone?
- your iPhone will be repaired/refurbished and will serve another customer....
If Apple exchanges the iPhone, you will see that the warranty does not reset to 0...

Re, as agreed I went to the appointment, so I went upstairs, someone was present and I told them I had an appointment. A few minutes later, an Apple seller came, I explained the problem to him, and he saw that it wasn't working properly. He did some checks by opening the SIM card slot, looked at something with his light and told me he would change it for me. So, a brand new, non-refurbished iPhone; I even asked them, it came in a box (a small box that only contains the iPhone). He erased the data from the old one and took it back. And on top of that, I was able to snag some earbuds since they weren't working very well anymore. This time, Apple did pretty well. Thanks.

Re, here is a matter resolved for the best. The control of the SIM card tray with a light serves to check the moisture indicator; if the moisture indicator had been positive, it would have indicated that the iPhone fell into water or is in an overly humid environment, which would have voided the warranty.
You received a new iPhone, which is ideal; just know that the warranty does not restart from zero. Keep the documents from the exchange of the iPhone by Apple, as your iPhone is guaranteed for 2 years and the second year is covered by Free (the seller), and since the serial number and IMEI of the iPhone no longer match the iPhone that Free sold you, you will need to justify the exchange of the device to Free to benefit from the second year of warranty in case of problems..

I have exactly the same problem on an iPhone 6, bought NEW, screen NEVER changed, and the device is very well maintained. Here is a video that shows you the problem:

The defect appeared after about 18 months, I would say, gradually. I am trying to enforce the legal warranty of conformity with Bouygues Telecom's customer service, but for now they pretend not to see the defect... I am now taking action with the mediator, to be continued...

Hi Rodg, I have exactly the same problem as you. It's becoming really annoying because the phone calls on its own! grrrr
Have you heard back from Bouygues? I'm no longer under warranty, the iPhone is 1 year and 4 months old, which is quite frustrating... I was thinking of contacting Apple, but their service is going to cost a lot.

I solved the problem
you need to go to settings => general => accessibility => zoom and turn everything off
for me it was "follow focus" that was enabled and causing chaos

It's been 2 years since I put my phone aside because it was haunted! I loved it but I couldn't do anything with it..
