How to reactivate SMS notifications on my Galaxy Ace? Solved

Hello everyone,

I have a problem with my SAMSUNG Galaxy Ace GT-s5830 running GINGERBREAD. I've noticed that it doesn't ring anymore when I receive SMS messages. It’s not the speaker since I can play music without any issues (using the speaker), and the alarm as well as calls work fine. I've searched through the settings many times but to no avail... The silent mode is off, the volume is turned up to the maximum, and I haven’t set a custom ringtone (I chose sherbet). Please help me!!

Is this a known issue?
I've seen other forums where the topic was the same but for the S3. :(

For those whose issue persists, I managed to find the message notifications like this:

Settings - More - Application Manager - All - Messages - Check the box 'Show notifications' then click on 'Clear defaults'.

[RESOLVED] SMS notifications do not ring anymore

Hello again, I solved my problem. Android had two notification options for SMS...
One in settings > sound > notification ringtone and another in messages > settings > (at the bottom) ringtones. Oh dear Android XD. Well, thank you if you tried to help me even if it wasn't the case.

Problem solved: all you had to do was pull down the top bar (the one where you activate Wi-Fi, GPS, sound, etc.), look for the 'notification' icon and click on it to make it green! There you go! Thanks anyway :)

Hello, I found the solution you need to go to settings click on notifications, choose the ringtone and increase the volume it's very simple. Good luck

Problem solved for the LG h340n (LG Leon)
Just go to Settings/Sound and notification/Apps and find the Messaging app
For us, it was written "block". By clicking on it, just uncheck "Don't show any notifications from this app" ;)

Hello,
Here's how I solved this issue on my Galaxy A5 2016.
Go to settings > sound and notification > increase the notification volume (it was set to zero for me and that's why it wasn't ringing despite trying the solutions suggested above)

Hello, I had exactly the same problem with my Samsung J3. Go to --> Settings --> Sounds and notifications --> App notifications --> Messages --> turn the first slider "Block notifications" off. :)
