Hello everyone,

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 16.0

I apologize for not using your forums. I didn't find anything that satisfied me.
I want to import all the data from Incredimail into THUNDERBIRD.
What easy-to-use and comprehensive software can I use to "convert" Incredimail to THUNDERBIRD? Where can I download it?

Thank you very much. Respectful greetings.

Hello everyone,
I don’t know if my contribution will be useful to Egerie, but for others looking to carry out the (delicate) operation of converting messages from incredimail to EML format, here are some useful tips using "Incredimail to EML" (link mentioned earlier by El Cameleon):

- First of all, don’t forget, once the program is downloaded and installed, to place the dll recommended by Dominion IT (sqlite3.dll) in the directory where the executable is located, dll downloadable via the link available on the site.
Just a reminder, everything is here:
http://www.dominion-it.co.za/development/incredimal_to_eml#.UsXXuNLuLao

I tried it without the dll, and with my configuration at least it didn’t work.

- Before launching Incredimail to EML, take a look at your incredimail mailbox. If you have mailbox names or "sub-mailbox" names containing special characters (ç, ï, … also locate é, è, accented characters…), rename your directories to eliminate these characters.
If you don’t do this, not only will the messages contained in those folders not be converted by Inc to EML, but the program will stop the conversion halfway through, without trying to go through the mailboxes that haven’t been converted yet.

- I recommend completely emptying the incredimail trash, to avoid a tedious recovery of deleted messages (it’s likely that Inc to EML still retrieves some of them).

- Quit Incredimail. If, like me, you’ve cleaned up your default mailboxes "sent messages" and "inbox" and there’s nothing left, the files "Outbox.imm", "Deleted Items.imm", and "Sent Items.imm" might be missing in the directory which should normally be here => C:\Users\myaccount\AppData\Local\IM\Identities\identity-number-to-recover\Message Store\.
You should know that the absence of the first two causes an error in the conversion, even more confusing since the error in question doesn’t mention the absence of these files but only signals a related problem.
In such a case, try to locate, in the same directory, the files with the same name in imh extension, and rename them to imm. Inc to EML will then have what it needs to work with, and even if the analysis of these files causes errors, it shouldn’t prevent the conversion from continuing on the other mailboxes.
As for me, it wasn’t necessary to rename the Sent Items.imh to imm (I also didn’t have a Sent Items.imm file).

I struggled a bit, but in the end, we are happy to have persisted when trying to move away from incredimail without having to give up its content. Moreover, I’d like to add that Incredimail to EML, despite the indicated stumbling blocks, is the only program that allowed me to recover my messages among those I tested. I was starting to feel a bit hopeless.

Happy New Year 2014 to the whole community :-)

Hello, I would like to add that I had to copy the .dll file into windows/system32 because I was getting an error.
Make an export from Incredimail beforehand (for safety).
Leave an email in the inbox, sent, and trash, it's much easier than trying to rename the .ich files to .imm
Create as many folders as possible to organize the emails, because after export, they will be named 1, 2, 3...
On Windows 7, the accounts are located in C:\Users\***\AppData\Local\IM\Identities\{***}\Message Store
Do not rename from Explorer, use Incredimail, otherwise the database will not follow.
Do not pay attention to export errors (these are deleted emails in the trash), unless a panel appears, then read the last line.
