Hello,
I had a weird thing happen this morning when I started my PC. On the bottom right of the desktop screen, I have this message "Windows 7 build 7601 this copy of Windows is not genuine"...
So I don't understand, my version of Windows isn't a copy since it's been installed on my PC since I bought it two years ago. There's a sticker on the back of the PC with the serial number. I even downloaded a software called Speccy, and it doesn't tell me anything special. I should mention that I had to take my PC to a technician last week and I picked it up yesterday morning. My hard drive was dead, so he replaced it and reinstalled the system for me. But strangely, this message didn't appear when I started the PC at home yesterday, only this morning (24 hours later....)
Could you guide me?
Thank you
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 15.0.1

Anyway, I'm waiting for the technician who worked on my PC to call me tomorrow morning so I can ask him all my questions. I couldn't be too aggressive because the person I spoke to on the phone didn't even look at my PC.
He promised to pass on the message and that the technician would call me back. If he doesn't, I'll call again Friday morning. Even though I still have 29 days to resolve the issue, I want to do it as QUICKLY as possible. And if they made a mistake, there's no way I'm buying a Windows 7 license, which I can't afford this month anyway after the significant expense I had yesterday at the store.

Hi; the only issue is the tattooing of the hard drive in the MBR; what’s his PC; the OEM SLP key, Google gives it to him and he also needs the “.xrm-ms” (OEM) certificate in text format to copy and paste; along with the hash to verify.
ALL IDENTICAL PREINSTALLED PCS HAVE THE SAME KEY / CERTIFICATE.
Everything is in the recovery partition; the key and the tokens.dat and cache.dat files.
Tokens.dat contains the certificate that Windows 7 integrates into the file.
Either we copy-paste tokens.dat, or we *install* the (correct) certificate with “slmgr.vbs”.
Also save/restore the cache.dat file...
Sector-by-sector cloning of the damaged disk onto the new disk (+ chkdsk /B to reset the list of damaged sectors when making a sector-by-sector copy of a partition) avoids (in principle) licensing/installation problems and would resolve his issue, but pinkou insists that his disk is dead, even though Windows starts up (yes, even halfway).

What do you know about Windows starting up from a distance?? Are you a fortune teller??? If I tell you that with the old hard drive, Windows didn't start, then it didn't start!!!
Now, if you don't want to help me, you're not obliged to. But I'm not being stubborn about anything, I'm with the new hard drive now!

Re, with a new disk, the "Repair the computer" function (F8 menu at Windows 7 boot) works; otherwise, the underlying cause of the problem remains and will remain the hard drive; Windows 7 does not repair files as long as the hard drive is the root cause of the problem. I had the opportunity to test it myself (I'm writing to you with the computer in question).
What's your PC? Brand, model, model code, country? Which Windows?
Acer Extensa 5220 laptop <= still that one?
Acer Extensa 5220-050508 - Portable computer:
http://www.commentcamarche.net/guide/979681-acer-extensa-5220-050508
Is it a 050508 (model code)? If someone has the same (new / not tampered with).
Good to know; but it's better to have the original information:
The keys are not brand specific. You can use any key with any certificate (with matching SLIC) on any machine. (...).info/threads/2581(...)

Hello,
Ask them to give you back the hard drive
Connect it externally to your PC or another
Try to recover the key with --> WINFOKEYS

BINGO !! This update is present in the Windows update history and guess what, it was installed on September 29, meaning by the technician who reinstalled the system for me!!!
Hello.
It's your technician who gave you a copy, those people don't put in any effort.
Call Microsoft and explain it to them; either they will know how to reactivate it for you, or you'll have to format by installing your key registered on your PC.
Look it up and follow the procedure.

It has happened to me too :), I was a bit scared but I eventually formatted it myself and have had no problems since.
Logically Microsoft should be able to help you, I hope so, otherwise you'll have to reinstall Windows from scratch.

The one that "WinfoKeys" gives you must be good then?

Yes, you'll be fixed tomorrow; anyway, it's their mistake.
You paid and called in (professionals), it's not to be bothered, to put it politely :).

Hello lacharpente, indeed, my disk was completely dead to the point that it got stuck on the welcome screen, preventing me from reaching the login page. And no, they didn't give it back to me.
Hi
If Windows was starting, it wasn't dead and you can find the original license that was installed on your PC by mounting it as a slave in another PC using something like winfoKeys
As for the supposedly dead disk, THEY MUST RETURN IT TO YOU (unless, which is possible, they just reinstalled Windows and didn't change it)
It sounds like, once again, a bunch of clowns are your repairmen
The market is saturated with these jokers who call themselves computer technicians or builders or whatever else
The fact that they reinstalled your PC with a different license than yours puts you and them outside the law

Once again, the HARD DRIVE WAS DEAD. The PC the first time when it was turned on got stuck on the message "microsoft corporation," then again on the screen with the message "acer" on it before it froze.
I'm not going to ask for something that's not feasible. What I'm mainly going to clarify is this story about the license with this installation key that is different from the one stuck on the back of my computer.

Hi
I hope you haven’t run into the infamous KB971033 error, which is resolved on howtocome.
At the time, Microsoft offered a free upgrade to Windows 7, then sent out this update that trapped the beneficiaries of this offer. We then had to hide this KB971033 update and use software like WAT22, but only if we were honest with the license (like this free update, it happened to me).

Hello mh333, it’s very possible, since I retrieved the PC yesterday, I had a ton of updates and last night I got 28.
I will check if it was properly installed. If that's the case, will removing it fix the problem?

the beginning of the last series of five characters where the label is a bit blurry
I'm stuck because of the first two characters of the penultimate series
So, which key did he install for you?
Why didn't he give you the DVD and the key?

This verification done, it is now necessary to reinstall the license files. To do this, simply launch a command prompt in administrator mode:
Click on the Start button and then type cmd in the search box. Then right-click on cmd.exe and choose "Run as administrator".
In the command prompt window that has just opened, type the following command:
slmgr /rilc (on Windows 7)
or
slmgr -rilc (on Windows Vista)
A Windows Script Host window will then open and list all the files necessary for the reinstallation of the license.
The message "This copy of Windows is not genuine" should then have disappeared. If that is not the case, it is then necessary to reset the license state. To do this, simply type the following command in our command prompt:
slmgr /rearm (on Windows 7)
or
slmgr -rearm (on Windows Vista)
Once this command has been executed, you will be prompted to restart the computer.

I have exactly the same message as you, and yet I haven't had any problems with my computer; it hasn't even been to a technician once, it's a year and a half old. It appeared this morning; I used it yesterday and there was nothing more. This morning at startup, it was very veeeery long...
Hello and thank you... Those are really idiots... I still paid €250 and they are not doing the job as it was when the PC broke down!!! They can be sure that I will call them to tell them what I think.
Uh, I don't understand anything anymore... The previously quoted message no longer appears on the screen at the bottom right even though I haven't done anything!!! What the heck is going on??
Otherwise, when I go to system, I'm being asked to activate Windows within 29 days; I need to resolve this problem quickly.

Yes, I have actually been on this page for a while, I'm trying to enter the product ID which is right next to it, but it's not accepting any numbers, it says "forbidden character, check product key and try again !!!"
Is it the numbers and letters next to Product Key: that you're typing?

So the repairmen used a different license number than yours, if I were you, I would go see them directly.
I didn't know anything about it and I kept getting the message, impossible to find my original key even with Microsoft’s phone support, so like a good citizen :), I went and bought a legal copy with a key and I formatted it myself.
