Unable to transfer songs to my MP4

Hello, I really need your help. Two months ago, I bought a 4GB MP4 on eBay... I don’t know the brand, I think it comes from Asia. I started putting songs on it and everything was fine until I had to put new songs four times. Then my MP4 began to act up... it was changing the titles of the songs... the music no longer matched the title. I made a copy of my songs and removed them from the MP4. I then put them back on and everything worked well. I added songs recently and it started again. I removed the songs again, but the problem is that now I can't put files on my MP4 anymore... it tells me; unable to create the directory or file. I’ve tried everything but to no avail. I’m really begging for your help because I can't return my MP4 and I really need to listen to music. Thank you in advance!
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 1.0

I'm going to tell you where it is, so pay attention:

- connect your mp4 to your computer

- turn on the mp4

- go to start

- then go to computer

- normally you should see it as *(E:)*

- right-click on it and you should see *format...*

- click on it

and then it's up to you, I'll put what I used:

- capacity: I didn't have to make a choice

- file system: I had the choice between *fat32* and *fat*; I chose fat32

- allocation unit size: I didn't have to make a choice

- volume label: I put E

- then in formatting options: I checked quick format

- then I clicked start

that's all, obviously you wait for it to finish and then click close

it worked for me, see you later!

I have exactly the same problem as you! It's only been 2 days since I got it, I initially had the same symptoms as you and now I can't put anything on it, I get the message like you "unable to create directory..."
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hoping for a positive response
Best regards

Hello... I found the solution to my problem! In fact, I just formatted my MP4 and everything is back to normal. There are still a few issues, but at least I can still listen to songs... I hope it will work for you too, Philippe!

Thanks anyway for your consideration!

Hi Gigi

Thanks, it’s good thanks to you I can play some music again. However, I'm still having problems. I put albums in my player but they don't show up in the selection and like you, the names of the songs are changing... Are you still facing these issues today? Keep me posted.

Thanks

Hello, I also think that formatting is a very effective solution... anyway, you have nothing to lose by trying! However, I have another problem that is not related to formatting. My mp4 has a mini sound system, meaning I can listen to music without headphones... but now when I try to plug in my headphones, I can't hear anything, so I can only listen to music through my built-in speakers and it's not practical when I want to listen to my music.

Hi, I have the same problem as you all. I bought my mp4 on eBay about 2 or 3 months ago and there are songs that work but others don't, and I would like to know how to make them work. This may seem stupid to you, but I really don't know what a formatting is.
Thank you for replying as quickly as possible.
Jessie :)

Hello,
I just need some advice. I just bought Anaïs's new album, and I'm able to put the songs into my music player (iTunes), but when I try to transfer them to my MP4, they show up on the removable disk, but when I turn on my MP4, they don’t appear there. The music may be protected?
If so, how can I remove this protection?

Thanks in advance

François

Hello everyone, I also had the same problem as you, except that my MP4 player was not malfunctioning and did not mix everything up.
My problem was that at first I was able to add my songs, but after a while I could no longer add anything, neither music nor video...
I initially thought it was a codec or format issue (AVI, MPEG...) and realized that wasn't the case. Is formatting really so necessary and effective?
I would like a quick response please, thank you!

Yes, the formatting is very effective, you won't have any more problems after.

Thank you for helping me, see you later!

Usually, (at least for me) you first need to connect the mp4 to the computer and head to the *desktop* window. Then, there should be a file called *removable disk*. Well, that's where you need to put your songs! If it doesn't work, try opening your mp4 and then connecting it to the computer and check if the *removable disk* file is there! I hope this helps you!
