Hello,
in a room, insecticide was sprayed!
As the smell was slow to dissipate, I still turned on my laptop in that room, but after some thought, I wonder if there was a risk for the computer!
Could my computer have been damaged?
Thank you in advance!

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 14.0.1

    Hello,

Unless you think your computer is a bug, there shouldn't be too many problems, if any at all :-)

Well, I don't know! There could be a risk of debris in the computer, poor ventilation, oxidation, ...
    I don't know!
Is there a risk of this kind or anything else?

Don't worry, it's already full of dubious products with unknown chemical compositions, so the fact that it has "suffered" that isn't very serious. If you had told me you spilled hydrochloric acid on it, I would say DANGER, but you're panicking for nothing, I assure you :-) Dust, sand, humidity/water are, I think, much worse dangers! ;-)

the greatest danger for a PC is:

      the user ^^

I want to be sure! Because a site says this:

    "WARNING
You should never clean a computer case with chemical products.
You should also not spray household cleaners on the computer.
And above all, you must ensure that no insecticide is ever sprayed on the computer's central unit case."

It hasn't received direct spraying, that's true, but it has still been exposed!

    Hello,
Regarding the "central unit case" ("tower"), it's logical, since the propellant is often butane or another flammable gas.
As for the insecticide product itself, I would be cautious as it likely contains solvents. Their effect may not be noticeable right away, but after several days or weeks (degradation of plastics and other pseudo-rubbers).
Spectacular example: my father-in-law slowly dissolved the membrane suspensions of his TV's speakers with a kind of Pliz: at first, the sound produced some "scraping" on bass-heavy music. Then, little by little, everything became completely muddled. When I dismantled the TV, the membranes were hanging forward and the coils were barely in the gap.
With keyboards, it's often the suspension of the keys that suffers.
Finally, it is often recommended to use only slightly soapy water to clean screens.
That said, I'm painting a grim picture: nothing will probably happen ("He hasn't received direct splashes for sure, but he was still exposed!"). But in your place, I would still avoid spraying directly on the PC.

So if I understand correctly, my computer is likely to have problems in the long term?

I don't believe it: in the meantime, I reread your explanations and I modified my response (at 9:19 PM).
If it were otherwise, the PCs in the offices would quickly be ruined by the cleaning staff!

I know, but to me, the insecticide seems like a product that could cause damage!

And we don't often spray insecticide in a business setting!

    It's a laptop, it's definitely more fragile!

According to the company, if you knew the amount of chemicals used by cleaning services, you would be scared! You are surrounded by chemicals; do you think your shower gel smells good and cleans thanks to what? It's packed with chemicals, everywhere, it's the world we live in.

Just put your computer in the shower lol :P

I don't think that insecticide sprayed towards the ceilings can be more aggressive than cleaning products sprayed more or less "at point-blank range."
And an insecticide's sole purpose is to neurologically poison insects, not to clean, lift, dissolve...
    Well, I'm not a chemist.

Sorry, but I don't want my computer to break down because of insecticide! =(
I don't know what the risks of insecticide are on electrical and computer equipment!

Anyway, the "evil," if it exists, has been done; what do you want to do about it now? I don't see many solutions; at worst, it won't work anymore, and at best, it will just be a bad memory in some time.

    Hello

If the smell was strong, you'd better worry about YOUR health, which is much more sensitive to insecticides than your phone.

    Hi,
A bug being an insect, this unintentional treatment with insecticide can only be beneficial to your computer.
