Good evening,
my problem probably has a very simple explanation but I don’t know much about it, so I’ll explain everything to you:
Yesterday I was typing a document on my IBM ThinkPad laptop, I only know that there is “x31” written below the screen (I don’t know if that will be enough to identify it) and when I tried to plug in my USB drive to save my work on it, it shut down!
I thought the battery was dead, but when I put it on charge the light didn’t come on, and I can’t restart it.
It’s a gift, and I wouldn’t like to have to tell the person who gave it to me that the computer is broken two weeks after I received it.
Thank you in advance,

I also have the same problem; when I turn on my desktop computer from IBM, it lights up its startup lamps and then turns off.

To the person who opened this topic:
I’m going to translate faithfully, preserving tone and structure.
"Good evening,
my problem probably has a very simple explanation but I’m not really knowledgeable, so I will explain everything to you: Yesterday I was typing a document on my laptop IBM ThinkPad, I only know that there is 'x31' written under the screen (I don’t know if that will be enough for you to identify it) and when I tried to plug in my USB flash drive to save my work on it, it turned off! I thought the battery was dead, but when I plugged it in, the charging light didn’t come on, and I’m unable to restart it. It’s a gift, and I wouldn’t like to have to tell the person who gave it to me that the computer is out of order two weeks after receiving it. Thank you in advance."
"Check the USB port. Maybe it has been damaged and the four pins touch each other. If that’s the case, you need to separate them from one another, but then you won’t be able to use your USB port anymore. If that’s your problem and you manage to restart your laptop, let me know for a solution for the USB port. Good luck!" -
It will be necessary to go to the following link and download the technical sheet corresponding to your PC model. This sheet will help you understand the problem. Let me know when you're done. Here is the link: http://mesnotices.fr/zearchres_3224.php. I recommend the latest named IBM THINKPAD T60 HARDWARE MAINTENANCE MANUAL.

Hello, try to start in safe mode or with an installation CD and repair it.
