Facebook message not possible for non-friends Solved

Question

Hello,
Recently someone added me on Facebook and then told me that it was impossible for them to send me a private message as long as we weren't friends. I checked with the "View my profile as..." feature and it's true, the "Message" button doesn’t appear for "unknown" users.
I would like to make this possible, but I haven't found in the settings where to remedy this issue. Does anyone have the solution? Thank you in advance for your responses :)

Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 21.0.1180.83

Hello,

- to the right of the blue bar at the top, click on the arrow pointing downwards.

- click on Privacy Settings

- section Contact Settings, click on Change Settings

- Option Who can send me a message on Facebook?, choose Everyone if you want.

Hello,
to receive and send messages to non-friends, you need to go to settings and "who can contact me" and click on basic filtering.
I had this problem; I was sending messages that were marked as unread for a long time but I had enabled strict filtering: I learned from a real friend who wasn't on my Facebook that I had written to him but he never received my messages; I added him as a friend and our messages worked afterwards.
