Hello,
I can no longer send private messages to a particular friend on Facebook. At first, I thought that this person had blocked me, but no (I am still friends with them, I can access their wall, etc.)
Now, the phrase “this person is currently not receiving messages from you” appears every time I try to send a PM.
What does that mean?

This person has clearly blocked you from messaging (or they have disabled or deleted their account, but that would be noticeable). Another possibility is that you have blocked them...
Open a chat window, go to the icon labeled "action," and you will see that you can block messages this way without necessarily blocking the person by clicking on the little gear icon in the conversation and selecting "block messages."
Finally, this can happen if the computer is not connected to the Internet, but that would also be noticeable.

It says invalid recipients or one or more are not valid, please try again. What does that mean?

I created another brand new account with a different phone number and name, but it still sends the same error message, so the possibility of being blocked is completely ruled out. Especially since I asked the relevant people, they have never blocked me and their accounts are definitely still there, so I am seriously stuck. I don't understand anything. I managed to get it working again by changing my IP address, but that only worked for one person; for the others, it doesn't do anything.

The recipient simply had to uninstall Messenger.
