Insert a disk... but there's already one in there!!!

Question

Hello, "Insert a disc into the DVD drive" This is the message I receive when I want to format a blank DVD or CD. (including the repetition of the word "drive"!) I have the drive recognized as a device and it works perfectly with already formatted DVDs or CDs. I've never had this problem before. Can someone help me? I've looked at the messages about drive issues but I found nothing since my drive is well recognized by the system. Thank you   Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 14.0.1

The Device Manager tells me that the drive is working well. And it works well with disks that have data on them.

Hello,  Insert a disk into the drive: If this message appears while a disk has been inserted, it means that the format of the disk is not recognized; otherwise, the drive is defective.

Yes, you need to look in the device manager. Under Windows 7, I'm not quite sure where it is.

I get the same message with any CD taken from my stock of new CDs.
