Hello,
I am on a Mac with Open Office and I have retrieved a pretty advanced folder (with tables already placed and some things that I didn't know how to do, in short) from the internet because I don't know anything about this software. The problem is that there is an automatic calculation in one of the cells; I type a date and it gives me a number "45676"!!! And in my reference column, I type 002500 and it shows $2500
What should I do to remove this automatic calculation?
Thanks
P.S. I tried to turn off automatic calculation or object --> formula but it doesn't work :(
Configuration: Mac OS X / Firefox 14.0.1

Hello,
Apparently, it's a format issue.
For the date, make sure the cell has a date format that suits you (select the cell, format, cell format, and choose the options that work for you).
As for the reference, even if it consists solely of numbers, it would probably be better to define it as text (unless you need to perform calculations on the references). To do this, type an apostrophe in front of your numbers:
'1234 to get 1234 in text format (the apostrophe should disappear).

Hello and thank you
Yes, it's a calc and ods I did what you advised and indeed it works :)) but when looking at my preview to see the final result, I have the whole part (a third of the sheet) that is under the table which does not appear anymore, do you have another solution???
Thank you -
Hello
I come across the topic and if the one who gave -1 to laoshu could explain to us why, at least we would know what flaw he saw in the answer.. especially for the last advice.
In the meantime, I have added the missing point.

Aren't we the only ones who understand what we are explaining? -
That's the danger of retrieving ready-made files when you don't know how to use the software! I presume it's a Calc file with the ods suffix?
The two examples you give are not automatic calculations, but only cell display formats.
Thus, 45676 is the standard format for the date January 19, 2025;
and for your reference, the column is currently in currency format with no decimal places and the dollar symbol; you need to define your own format in the bottom box ""Format description" by typing 00000#
Best regards.
