µTorrent: No incoming connection Solved

Question

Hello, I have been using µtorrent for a few months, it was working very well, downloading quite quickly, until one day when instead of the green icon, I got a yellow triangle-shaped icon that says I have no incoming connection. When I click on this icon and then click on start tests, it tells me that the port is not open. I haven’t changed any settings, I have reinstalled it several times, no changes, still the same problem! I am using Windows 7. Do you know where this problem might be coming from? To find out which port is used by µtorrent, go to the "options" tab, then "preferences," and finally in "connections."

To open this port:
1) (if you already know your IP, skip to step 2)
Open a command prompt (Windows key + R, then type cmd & hit enter).

2) Type "ipconfig" (without quotes) and look for your "IPV4" address, remember it.

3) Go to your browser, type 192.168.0.1 in your address bar. The username is "admin" and the password is "password."

4) Go to the "advanced" tab and then to "port forwarding."

5) In the "local IP" column, enter the one you found in step 1.

6) In the start port & end port, enter the port that µtorrent uses.

7) In protocol, select "both."

8) Don’t forget to check "enabled."

9) That's it!

Have you changed your antivirus or firewall recently?
Is your outgoing connection still working?
In µtorrent, go to the "Options" tab, then to "Setup Wizard", run the tests & let us know the results.

No, I haven't changed my antivirus recently and my firewall is disabled. I have no upload but some download.
I ran the tests, for the bandwidth I have a green cross and the results are: Upload 1.2 Mbti/s (147.1 ko/s) Download: 13.4 Mbit/s (1.5 Mo/s)
And for the network, I have a yellow cross with a small star and the results are: The port is not open (you are still able to download)

I have pretty much the same problem (Netgear CBVG834G router provided by Numericable), and µTorrent v2.2.1. I can have as many outgoing connections as I want, but nothing has been coming in for a few days; no changes to my Firewall or antivirus.

I'm also using Drakker; µTorrent is therefore configured with a Socks 5 proxy 10.8.128.1, port 1080.

The ipconfig command shows 2 IPV4 addresses:
"Ethernet card connected to local network 3, IPV4: 10.8.XXX.XXX" (I remove the last digits for safety)
and
"Ethernet card connected to local network, IPV4: 192.168.0.11"

I entered the second one (since the router's settings screen is pre-filled with the first digits (192.168.0.) and only allows you to choose the last ones.

However, I see no change, the data download speed is zero. Can you help me please?

Hello supersonix & thanks.  Have you tried µtorrent with Drakker disabled?  If so, does it work in that case?  Yes? --} Then download Bittorrent instead of µtorrent, it's more recommended with Drakker, there are fewer settings to adjust. Indeed, sometimes updates are recognized as new programs & therefore, the firewall exceptions may be canceled.

- Yes, I tried setting it to "none" proxy. Same thing.
- I also disabled my Windows firewall: same.
- No, I haven't updated µTorrent, precisely because I read that version 3 had issues.

BitTorrent is somewhat related to µTorrent, right? The settings window is exactly the same...

What does "Apply rate limit to uTP connections" mean? This box is checked by default whereas I hadn't checked it on µTorrent..?

Go to "add a torrent".

The torrents you had in µtorrent are available in the folder "%AppData%/uTorrent". You need to type this in the window that will open.

Sort them by "modified on" & you will have them from the oldest to the newest.

Make sure that the download folder is the same as the one assigned to µtorrent. Bittorrent will check the torrents, and they will continue from where they left off.

This box can remain checked; it allows allocating more or less bandwidth to a torrent and setting a limit for download and/or upload.
(by right-clicking on a torrent, then bandwidth allocation).
If you do not set any limits, the bandwidth will be used to the maximum, as if the box were unchecked. So you can check it.

Unfortunately, having now uninstalled MicroTorrent, it seems that the folder has disappeared as well; the explorer cannot find it.

Good evening, my problem is actually not resolved. I was able to download the first time without any issues, but once the download was finished, I tried to download another torrent and this time it didn't work. The icon was still green though. I then uninstalled uTorrent and reinstalled it, the icon still being green, there was a lot of reception but very little emission. I still managed to download this torrent, but very slowly. Then I wanted to download another torrent, but again nothing happened. I reinstalled uTorrent again and it’s the same as before. Please help me :(

Check that in the µtorrent preferences, the "random port at each startup" box is not checked.

If it is, uncheck this box and enter the port you had previously opened on your router.

Indeed, it’s possible that µtorrent has changed its port usage and selected one that is not open on your router.

After several searches on the internet, I'm following your conversation because I have a similar problem.

I use BitTorrent and for several months now, I haven't been getting more than 10 or 12 KB/s. Every time I start a new torrent, the download starts strong (200 KB/s) but quickly drops down, and it takes me 3 weeks to receive a complete file... and nobody seems to be sharing my files.
I'm using XP, with a port open behind a Freebox and routing to a NAS.
I'm using BitTorrent 7.7
The BitTorrent connection wizard tells me that everything is well configured... What should I do??

Either you switch to fiber if you can OR you change your ISP

You can open all the PORTS in the world, if you're on ADSL it's Numéricâble that decides!

I went to the shop, I asked why I can't download TORRENTS with my ADSL.
Answer: Illegal French sites are blocked for the common good, and this prevents our bandwidth from decreasing in certain neighborhoods and non-fiber cities.

I've been using uTorrent for years without any problems. A month ago, I switched to Free, and I have the Freebox Révolution, and since then, I can't download anything!
I no longer have any "incoming connections." I've read your previous advice, and my settings seem valid (see https://www.dropbox.com/sh/vf7nx67pjzyeijj/AADPRs1weEad_H3BycDrxju1a):
1: When I launch uTorrent, the green icon indicating that everything is fine is there for a few seconds
2: Then it turns orange without any download having started
3: The UPnP IGD service on my box is indeed active and the uTorrent ports are open (see screenshot)
4: When I run the configuration assistant, the error indicates that no UPnP is activated, but it is indeed enabled on my Box and in my uTorrent settings.

Can someone please help me? I don't know what else to try!

Good evening! I have no green or yellow icons! And I'm not connected, so I'm following everything they've said since the beginning of this forum!
And it's not working, while this morning everything was functioning
At some point, I simply wanted to go online, and then a page told me that it's impossible to connect to the proxy server, so I tried a bunch of things, finally ending up by disabling the proxy server! So I'm wondering if it's due to that, but BitTorrent doesn't go through the proxy server either, so........
