Hello and Happy New Year to everyone...

I bought a Konig CMP-BARSCAN 10/20/30 barcode scanner on sale at Nedis.

I have no idea how it works!!!

It comes with a small book filled with printed barcodes for programming, but since I don't know anything about it, I'm struggling!

When I plug it into the PC via its USB connection, XP detects the new hardware, but nothing happens; when I present a barcode to it, it beeps while reading, but nothing shows up anywhere.

I just want to manage stock with it, and instead of having to manually enter all the references, I was hoping to pass the scanner over the barcode and have it translate into my little Access management program... just like at the supermarket checkout!!!

Since I'm not very knowledgeable, I hope to find someone on this site who can properly explain the way to go...

Thanks in advance.

Yves.

P.S. If it helps, here are its specifications:

First of all, forget about databases or other complicated stuff.
The first thing to know is that a barcode scanner replaces a keyboard. In other words, if you have a barcode that represents the value 1234567890, open a text editor and scan the barcode with the scanner. It will write 1234567890 in the editor as if you had typed it on the keyboard.

A barcode scanner is therefore compatible with any software. Wherever the cursor is placed waiting for a value to be manually typed (a reference, for example), you just need to scan the barcode corresponding to the reference, and it will enter as if you had typed it by hand. Besides, if the scanner cannot read the barcode, you can always manually type the reference on the keyboard.

On the other hand, the barcode configuration sheets delivered with the scanners contain values that are known to the scanner to enable or disable functions and thus easily configure the scanner: for example, what types of barcodes the scanner is supposed to read!

Hi,

What should I do when in Excel the value of a product with a code in numeric format like 205156816361 displays Tà'&&é""àà"&à_DQ?

Thank you for your help.
