Happy New Year to everyone. I installed a game called "SCRABBLE 2005" but it doesn't work; it freezes. UBISOFT, the game's publisher, confirms that the issue comes from my graphics card and that the ASROCK P4s61 motherboard is obsolete. My hardware: Micro ATX - Intel Pentium 4/Celeron 2.66 MHz - 448 MB RAM - Socket 478 - Display memory 1280x1024 (32 bits) 60Hz - SiS 661 FX chipset - DD RAM - AGP 8X port. Thank you for your advice.
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

I have a 17-inch laptop with Windows Vista
I installed Scrabble 2007. Everything works except the top of the game board is cropped. I can't read the column numbers, and I can't drag the board a bit further down on my desk.

Hello,
I have the same problem as Vincent59: when I put Direct3D mode, nothing is saved. How can I force the file to be saved that way?

Completely ridiculous is the supposed obsolescence of your motherboard!
Even your graphics card is certainly enough.
Have you checked the free space on your HDD? Because there, it might be causing a bottleneck.
For the rest,
PCU P4/2.66 GHz for PII/400MHz
C-G 1280/1024 for 800/600
it's more than sufficient.
RAM 448 MB for 256.
It may be a bit tight. It can possibly slow things down, but not to the point of everything freezing.

Hi:
For information, the new response from UBISOFT:
TO BE ABLE TO INITIALIZE THIS SOFTWARE, YOU NEED AT LEAST A 3D GRAPHICS CARD. SIS-BASED CARDS DO NOT DO 3D (THEY ARE "OFFICE" GRAPHICS CARDS).
I will look into the type of card to use to replace the existing one and perhaps increase my RAM.
I am always attentive to the advice.
THANKS; BYE

3D for playing Scrabble! I never would have thought of that. And when they give you the minimum config they don’t even mention it, while everything else matches what was done 6 or 7 years ago.
Moreover, they start by talking about changing the motherboard when it should be enough to install an extra graphics card on your motherboard.
And do they give you the necessary video memory capacity? It goes from 8 MB to 512 and more, with prices to match.
All that isn’t very serious.
Yves Hello, I can tell you that Scrabble 2005 runs very well with a P4 - 1.5 GHz, 128 MB of RAM only and an integrated Nvidia graphics chipset. The problem is often at the graphics level (graphics card or DirectX version or resolution).
However I can't get it to run on a brand-new Vista PC (2 dual-core 6600) with 2 GB of RAM, apparently a graphics problem that I haven't found yet, the game launches but the squares don't appear (only the timer and the players' names)... has anyone else had this?
By contrast, Scrabble 2007 runs very well...
Hi,
Outdated motherboard? What does that mean?
It is certainly nearing the end of its life, but it still sells http://www.mrmicro.fr/product_info.php?ref=4&products_id=212
That your configuration is insufficient is probably the case. However it is not a pejorative adjective that tells what is necessary, but numbers.
I think the minimum configuration must be indicated somewhere, in the manual, on the installation CD .....
If not, ask Ubisoft again and ask them to provide you with numerical values and not adjectives.
In light of your motherboard’s characteristics, I think only your graphics card would need to be replaced.
And happy new year ... anyway.

Thank you, your information is valuable. It is true that my motherboard is near the end of its life, but that doesn’t tell me whether it’s necessary to replace the graphics card and, above all, with which one? For your information, the required configuration for this game is: PII 350-400 MHz; XP; DirectX 9.0 (already installed); 350 MB free on hard drive; 256 MB of RAM; graphics card compatible with 800x600 or higher. I will follow your advice and contact UBISOFT. If you have any other information, please let me know. See you and thanks again.
I installed Scrabble 2005 on a PC. It starts up very well but it locks when you try to play. I solved the problem by using the "Scrabble Settings" utility that came with the game. Normally there is a shortcut on the desktop; if not, it’s in the Start menu. There are two video configurations to choose from. the game takes one by default: you need to try the other. I don’t know if that will solve your problem but for me it was enough. Good luck.
Actually I have a Scrabble settings page
with 2 options
- Direct X
- OpenGl
if I check DirectX and save .... the save does not happen
I am under DirectX bundled with Vista and the game stays frozen after launch
I have 2 GB of memory - a cutting-edge graphics card - I have installed hundreds of codecs
the game worked very well with XP but with Vista it's kk

To run this application on Windows Vista, you need to:
1. Install patch 1.02 available at
https://www.ubisoft.com/fr-fr/
2. Apply to each of the shortcuts “Scrabble 2005” and “Scrabble Settings” the option "Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 2)". To do this, right-click the shortcut, select Properties, click the Compatibility tab, and select the corresponding option.
3. Launch “Scrabble Settings” and choose the option for running the game in Direct3D mode
Once this is done, the game runs correctly.

Hello, could someone help me because I can't play online. As soon as I connect it says "connexion to ubi.com" and "connexion to the rooms" and after that nothing else appears, for Scrabble 2005.
