My Asus tablet won't turn on at all :( Solved/Closed

Hello,

I bought an Asus Tf300t tablet on Saturday, and so far, I have no complaints, it was working very well...

I charged it after purchasing, and by Monday evening the battery was empty. I charged it all night (8 hours or more as recommended in the manual).

I used it on Tuesday and last night, and yesterday after accepting some updates for certain apps, after 1 minute of inactivity, the tablet went into sleep mode. I tried to wake it up but it never turned back on. There was 45% battery left, and I thought since I had done some updates, the battery had drained completely. I plugged it in, but nothing happened; there is just a small red light on the ON/OFF button, but usually, the brand shows on the screen with the Android figure...

Besides taking it back (which I plan to do after work), is there anything I can try, or is it done for???

While searching on this forum, I saw some people with the same problem say that you need to connect it to the PC and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds  I tried that and it worked.

I just had the same issue:

After using it all evening, I put it on standby and this morning I couldn't turn it on: the screen remained black even though the light on the button was green.

I applied the solution you found in other posts (connected to a PC + pressing the start button for 15 seconds) and my tablet started normally.

Let’s hope it’s just an update issue, although the last one I had was 15 days ago and I hadn't had any problems since.
In any case, this doesn’t affect my satisfaction with this tablet [Asus TF 300] or with ASUS products in general.

Thank you, my Asus tablet wouldn't turn on even though I had charged it the night before, and I tried plugging it into the PC and oh miracle it turned on again, thank you so much ;) no need to return to the store ;)

Hello. I also have a similar problem. The screen of my tablet stays black but it works. The screen becomes visible if I connect it to a PC. I've done the 10S manipulations..., total reset. Nothing works. Have you had the same problem and found a solution? Thank you.

Thank you for the tip about plugging it into the computer and holding down ON for a few seconds, it just worked for me too! I couldn't turn it back on after turning it off normally.

For me, it's the t100taf that won't turn on and the small LED next to the power button is blinking white... I've tried pressing the button for a long time and using the volume button too, but nothing works :( if someone could help me please

Here's a message I intend to post on several forums to share my experience on the subject.

Following the blockage of my Asus Memo Pad 8 (unable to turn on after battery recharge), pressing the 3 buttons for 5 or 10 seconds yielded no results; I ultimately got my tablet working again by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.

This appears to be a bug in Android due to an excessively deep discharge of the battery (although some rumors suggest this is a case of planned obsolescence and randomness).

To open the casing, follow this video (it's in English, but the images are enough):

Lacking the tools shown in the video, I used three utility knife blades (gently insert the first, turn slightly and lever to insert the second, then the third; the casings will gradually unclip - be careful, the areas where the connectors are located are more fragile).

The tablet in the video is not exactly the same, and to disconnect the battery connector, you need to pull it perpendicular to the board (not in the plane of the board like in the video).

Moreover, I want to point out that this problem occurred 3 weeks after the warranty expired; I contacted Asus customer service, who kindly offered me a paid repair.

I strongly believe that ASUS is a brand to be avoided. In the same vein, I also discourage HP, whose customer service refused to provide me with the activation codes for the Windows installed on my laptop after reformatting the hard drive, on the grounds that the warranty had expired.
However, I would like to give a special mention to Dell, whose customer service called me (I didn't have the foresight to ask how they got my number) after I posted a message on their forum.

Hello,

I have an Asus T100TF and I had the same issue, meaning I couldn't restart it!

I tried connecting it to a PC and turning it on and off for 15 seconds, 30 seconds..... pressing ON+volume => nothing.

I followed a piece of advice, opening the casing with my nails (and I don't have many), you find yourself facing the electronics and especially two batteries. You need to unplug these batteries without removing them, wait, and then reconnect.
It worked like a charm!

By the way, my symptom corresponded to a rapid blinking of the LED when pressing ON.

Hello,

I have a problem with the Memo 8 Pad. It happened to me once in Vietnam 15 days ago after a small fall from a height of 40 cm.
It worked again after I plugged it into the mains.

Two days ago, it did the same thing again after a night of charging.

All the tips have been tried without success.

I removed the battery cover and properly reinserted the ribbon cable of the LCD panel into its slot. It worked correctly right away.

I had a similar problem with my Asus Memo Pad FHD10 still under warranty (purchased on Amazon in Germany, 2-year warranty).
After a year and a half of very little use, the tablet would no longer turn on even though it seemed charged. When I plugged it into the wall, the screen would briefly light up and the charging indicator would change from red to green, then the screen would go dark.
I was wondering if it was a battery issue or a power button issue because the power button seemed unresponsive and was stuck.
I followed the warranty repair request procedure, so I contacted Asus France and sent it to the Asus repair center (in my case CEAT Electronics) last Friday. On Monday, CEAT confirmed the receipt of my tablet, and today Wednesday, to my great surprise, I received the repaired tablet ... the cause of the malfunction was indeed the power button!
I was very pleased with how my issue was handled and the speed of the service. The only complaint: I received the tablet in its box without any protective foam ... fortunately, the tablet was not broken during transport. The packaging seemed very light, even risky!

P.S. Before sending the tablet, I had tried of course to long press the power button as well as the power + volume buttons, but it didn't work!
